    Default 300Tdi Exhaust

Straight through pipe or 1 free flow box? What are you running?

Put 1 small free flow box in as the 300TDi will sound like a tractor,

Mine had a freeflow setup as standard.
The centre box was huge and heavy.

    I removed it.

I now only have the rear box.(Still LR original) It's very small.

I didn't notice a big difference in sound or performance with the removal of the centre box.
With passenger window open and driving next to a wall, SWAMBO says it's like a truck.

I'm contemplating removing the rear box, but never got to it.

IMHO, leaving the diameter the same and removing a silencer will have minimal effect.

Just curious why would you remove any? Sound? Performance? Fuel consumption? Other?
20 odd years box standard and happy as Larry with my 300.
Took the cats out of the 2.8 and wish I hadn't, read a lot on how it increased power and saved fuel. Zero fuel saving or performance enhancement and sounds like a lawn mower.

The 300tdi like a bigger downpipe. Less turbo lag. Less EGT.

The only real benifit is it lowers the EGT temps and turbo manifold temps thus pro-longing the life of them and the head due to lower temps.
It also reduces turbo lag lower down in the rev range

    What Jelo said!

I've removed all boxes, pipe exits just in front of the left rear wheel.
Yes, she sounds like an old John Deer, but it makes me moist.
Turbo spools up a dash quicker, EGT most def lower.
Do that along with a tweak on the Bosch VE and you have whole machine!
No need to change gears the whole time, she has grunt in places she never had.

Disclaimer: EMS (EGT probe) a must before tweaking fuel pump.

I have straight through pipe on the 130. Does sound like a tractor if you have passenger window open and drive next to a wall or something.

But in all honesty, I like the sound.

Power and or lower EGT, not that I noticed. But I do think Jelo is right, if you really want to get the full benefits, you need to start at the downpipe and take it all the way back.

That's my next plan, bigger downpipe to try and drop EGT's as I have quite an aggressive tune on mine, with hybrid turbo and bigger intercooler.

    My 300tdi D1 takes 24 seconds 0-100km/h

Is that ballpark or slow for this vehicle?

I wouldn't know, I am pretty sure that my 130 takes long than that, but never really timed it.

The spec sheet says 18.4 sec

    I must measure mine someday

Mine is just over 20s. But my timing is way retarded and pump is at stock settings.
