    Default Breedt's nek from Pretoria

    Hi all.

My friends and I are looking to go do Breedt's nek on Saturday morning. I'm just a bit worried about blockades. Anyone know where the stops are?

This is the route I have planned: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Menl...25.7818819!3e0

Theres a permanent inter-provincial roadblock on the Krugersdorp - Rustenberg Rd, part of your route. Some have said it can be circumvented by doing the dirt roads from Hekpoort side. Have also heard there's a permanent roadblock somewhere along the Mooinooi road but not sure where that is. There is a thread somewhere on the forum where this has already been discussed.

On The Hekpoort side you cant use the R24 at Maanhaarrand as you will get turned around if you don't have permits and a valid reason. You will need to use the R465, and/or R99 from/to Hekpoort

I went to the local SAPS on Tuesday to get a permit for crossing a provincial border.

I was told (by the colonel in command of the station) that all I need is a sworn statement as to the reason for traveling and (if there is any) to attach documentary proof, no permit needed.

I assume one still needs a legitimate reason - which shouldn't be too difficult to come by...

Our SAPS office in Harties told us straight not to bother them and please just go do our business.

If you go down the R513 towards harties there are no roadblocks. Go via Damdoryn then onto Hekpoort.

Here are some of the photos. Even got some cool ones close to the top at the allowed braai area.
