Default Is business travel possible now?

Dear friends, since 1 June the government has started to make provision for some people to travel across our international borders again. The information that I have found is the underneath message from DHA.gov.za. It seems to only apply to people who are based abroad. For our intended business travel, our client would have to arrange a charter flight to Kazakhstan. We stand to have that arrange and to get the approvals in place to enter the foreign country, but, how do we know that the SA officials will allow us to cross the border of SA?

Is anyone else in the same position, or has anyone done this yet since 1 June 2020? Any help would really be appreciated.

The Regulations for Alert Level 3 as published on 28 May 2020 in Government Gazette No. 43364 in terms of the Disaster Management Act,
2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002) provides, amongst others, thatꟷ

All borders will remain closed during the period of the national state of disaster, except for ports of entry designated by the Cabinet member responsible for home affairs, for specific reasons inclusive of the return of a South African national or permanent resident to his or her place of employment, study or residence, outside the Republic.

As the Alert Level 3 Regulations will take effect on 1 June 2020, approval from the Department through the team managing the [email protected] email, will only be provided for travel up to
    31 May 2020.

Travellers intending to leave the Republic from 1 June 2020 onwards are permitted to continue with their travel arrangements SUBJECT TO THE
    FOLLOWING:

Must be a South African Citizen who wish to depart from the Republic only for the following reasons:

    Work
    Study
Residence (this includes family reunion, to take up permanent residency or receive medical attention)

Must hold a valid South African Passport.

Are in possession of and will travel with the proof that confirms your admissibility (This is normally in the form of a letter confirming your admissibility under the current circumstances from the embassy or other diplomatic/consular representative of the country you want to travel to.
If returning by road or connecting via flights, the proof needs to include permission from each transiting country)

Immigration Services must still process your departure from the Republic at a Port of Entry designated by the Cabinet member responsible for home affairs as stipulated above.

During Immigration Processing, you will have to comply with standard immigration requirements. All normal rules relating to the Immigration Act, including minors travelling should still be adhered to as prescribed by DHA (www.dha.gov.za).

Proper business travel is possible. You would need to satisfy all the red tape.

My understanding is that it if for “permanent” postings abroad, and SA citizens only, but business travel as in fly to Maputo for four days.

If you need to travel to Namibia it will not be possible. Only Citizens. PRP holder or work permits. Then on arrival you have to go into isolation in a goverment facility with cost for your account. Also be tested for the virus.

I see EU has allowed travel to Rwanda, Morroco and Tunisia

I’ve heard 1st of August things might get more relax a bit for international travel.

the issue is that in the state of emergency or disaster flight plans are only approved For flights that are stipulated in the regulations.

Used to travel +/- 50% of my work days internationally. Have done so for 15+ years.

    No international travel since March.

    Not great for business.

Teams/other systems do work very very well.
