Sounds like fun. Will have to let you know closer to the time, but tentatively, you can count another softroader in

How tough is Bass Lake in relation to Sable Ranch?

In terms of technicality, chanve of scratching your vehicle, and doing body panel damage?

Cornell, I havent been but have watched on YT. The terrain will be totally different than Sable(more variation) and from what I can gather there are escape routes etc.

Just check your diary, your PA says you might have another commitment with another group on that weekend

Havent been for years but not rocky like last weekend.
Terrain is hard ground, couple of steep climbs and down hills, slippery when it has rained, there is a rocky section up up a steep hill but also avoidable if you must
    Good fun drive

Mailed Basslake and got the auto reply
In essence No self catering and also no 4x2 (even tough their website states differently)

Spoke to Estee so possible we should look at different venue as nto going to be the best

Gerotek has nice track (not sure if open to the public) we drove there years ago in Bridgestone fundi competition
    Hennops maybe?

    Any suggestions for alternatives?

    Thanks

Hehehe, what can I say? I'm a friendly guy. Especially now I want to get out more as work stress and being couped up in the house is really getting to me. so for sanity sake, I'll play with any trustworthy group.

It appears that they want us to use their catering facilities as opposed to self-catering.

Are there no dirt roads to a quaint dorpie that we could do? I dont mind tracks and have been looking forward to Bass Lake for some time, but I personally prefer a destination.

If that is a criteria I suggest you play with the other group. And you get some mileage out of your club fees...

But Bass Lake is fun, it was my first 4x4 trail ever in a Isuzu 320 4x2.

Thats a great offer Grant and we might take you up on that. We would like to keep it as inclusive as possible so we dont want the owners to turn away anyone because of a vehicle technical issue like lacking a drive to to the front, etc

I agree. Originally we had some criteria for these get-togethers and in my opinion, it was about getting out, getting to meet the guys, and enjoying some form of using our vehicles within what we like to do (being out doors). And although it did not exclude trails, it was stated that it should be soft roader friendly. I don't think trails should be excluded at all from our trips, but it should be as Estee said inclusive for all. And family friendly...

It looks so nice and it has been so long ago since I met new forum members face to face. One day, when time is our own again, we would love to join on a dirt road drive type of outing.
