    Default At last Eskom...

Looks as if Eskom finally have the guts to apply pressure where it counts and stop the rot for which some of us keep on paying - well done and please keep it up:

Like the Taxis... This might end bad. While I agree wholeheartedly with Eskom's plan, I am expecting things to burn soon....

Yes it might. But the country cannot keep on accepting illegal and lawless behaviour just because we are scared of the consequences. I just feel that somewhere, someone must start drawing big fat lines.

Well let it burn then, it's about time that a hard stance is taken. It's long overdue.

I agree, but I think we all know that the Gov is not going to send in the Military once the riots start. They will send in a politician with promises...

Don't forget that the army is still deployed ( out there some where) and there is still a state of National disaster.

So timing wise by having and some possible back up from the Military is good from Eskom.

I have hope it will reach a critical point where it will happen (which might be too late)

Looks like they giving up on SAA when the DPE walked away from their forum a few days ago. Maybe enough people will come to their senses.

Totally agree with you and applaud Escom for trying something, but with elections on the horizon I don't see it sticking.
What we need for something like this to work is politicians with spines and we are far from that.

Eskom was told "You will not get more money if you do not collect". Since then they have started to take quite hard measures. There is also an other issue. Somewhere there is a court decision that Eskom is responsible if people die due to illegal connections.

Those house owners do not pay for the electricity but if the shack dweller on the back yard doesn't pay to the house owner that is big trouble. One of the big reasons house owners do not want secure pay by use meters as they would lose this income. Multiple laws are broken. Stealing electricity, health and safety, reselling electricity for profit is illegal...
