Default ADVICE NEEDED!! 1996 Vitara Starter Motor

    Hey guys,

So i literally just got the car and now the starter broke. My mechanic has looked far and wide for one but says that because they're unique to the car, they're difficult to find.

He was told that if the starter motor isn't completely buggered, you can use some Mazda parts in them. Is this true?

    Anyone have any advice, PLEASE

Supposedly, the parts are hard to find, but he was told he could possibly used Mazda parts. Who knows...

Starter issues are normally brushes or solenoids that wear out. I doubt there would be significant issues with the armature - even should there be a competent rewinding place should be able to fix it.

Take the starter to any decent autoelectrician - I'm pretty sure it will probably be fixable with off the rack parts for a few hundred ZAR.

That's what I thought. Shouldn't be too difficult. Will see what he gets up to. He's always been really honest and tries to save his customers money.

If the ring gear engagement sprocket is broken then you have bigger issues.
