A Epic Black version 4x4 Auto is R696k

Way cheaper than a Prado at R855k

The Epic's and Black series are all auto. Manual 2.8 Fortuners are no longer available, was announced a while back, have a look at the line up on the Toyota website.

But in general, car prices in SA are not far off from rest of Africa. In fact they are much better.

In East Africa, fortuner top of the range 2.8 is about 1million Rand equivalent. Prado TX about 1.3m Rand equivalent, and VXL about 1.7m Rand equivalent. And these are volume sellers. So, comparing with rest of continent SA pricing ain't that bad.

When you convert from UK to ZAR for pricing within UK, u will find most Cars cost cheaper here.

Ain't that the truth.... Toyota better wake up as the Koreans are also aiming at the bakkie market. They have developed some great diesel motors already......their 2.2 diesel is a great motor.

Prado will without doubt get a Hybrid and/or possibly a V6 diesel.
Jannie the farmer guy will not be happy buying a complicated hybrid.

Eish, donít like being the pessimist, rather the realist... And if they were to bring the hybrids (which Iím not a fan of), they arenít anything to write home about. Boring, now old, nowhere close to as efficient as Toyota claims and nevermind bringing the current good, this is Africa, the excuse they use about the quality of the diesel here will be made even worse with ours and the rest of Africaís electricity supply ... LOL

Why? They've been around since the 05 Lexus RX and from the look of things, they don't seem to break. The large chuck of Africa relying on grey imports have many of those in Lexus RX (a.k.a Harrier) and Prius. Those buyers have a way of not spending their cash on stuff that breaks.

Those are Africa's realities you can't just wish away for now. Diesel quality is mostly poor and electricity supply is unstable. Reason hybrids make more sense then EVs.
