    Default Battery for camper trailer

I know very little about batteries but am trying to learn . I read that for powering camper trailers (fridge, LED's, USB's) that a deep cycle battery is required. My Invader came with a First National Battery Silver Calcium high performance starter battery - is this adequate for the purpose?

Definitively not. That is for a car not as a deep cycle for camping.

I have had a heavy duty starter battery as part of my camping setup for years. So yes, it is fine, but it can't take the abuse that a deep cycle battery can in terms of draining it too low.
So I make sure I don't overdraw on it (below 50%) and that it gets charged as soon as possible by solar or vehicle the following day. Still going good years later.
I would say learn a bit more, give it a bash, and if it doesn't work for you, then go with another type of battery.
Here is some simple info on batteries, it can get complicated, but let's start simple.

I think the OP is referring to a 102A/h leisure batteries

I have been using one of those for a couple of years now. Charging via vehicle and Victron Combiner and topped with a 100watt panel
I would get about +-2 days of fridge time 40lt on battery before a charge is required.

Similar (correct me if I am wrong) to a deep cycle, but one nor a high cycle(starting battery - Vehicle)
    Charges quicker than deep cycle.

If it is as below, it will work. they look similar to this, these are branded as exide

Battery Centre also sells it under the Raylite name - Some are sold under the Ellies name. All are made by First National Battery and they have a CCA of about 710A.
It can be drained to 80% but not on a regular basis. They normally have notes to this effect on the side.

This is from Battery Centre. Stud or taper poles.

I had one of those SC batteries in my fortuner. I took out the rear cig light plug relay so it had permanent power.
Ran an Engel 40l,ran it permanently while traveling. I found I could run for 2 days without starting the vehicle.
It can be done on one battery, just monitor closely.

    Hi All

I run these batteries in my Trailer and vehicle.
This is the Excide/Raylite/Ellies SMF-100 102AH " semi deep" cycle batteries.
I have contacted First National Battery direct and the have sent me the Spec sheet for optimal operation. Please see attached picture. I run mine with a Victron solar setup in which i can customize all the settings via the app.
    Hope this helps.

    You have to be careful.
I limit the opening, make sure it's in shade, switch off at night. Monitor the battery voltage.
