One thing is sure, you wont have to pay R5k for the cambelt..
Then again, VW might still charge you that...

My dad had 2 Ford Rangers, first model 4.0 V6 auto d/cab, and 3.0TDCI auto d/cab. He then switched to Amarok, had a 2.0 auto d/cab and now v6 d/cab.

He was one of the first people that told me he will definitely not buy the upcoming Ford based Amarok, purely based on the amount of warrantee work both Rangers needed.

Those models existed when Volkswagen did not even have a bakkie

It's like saying that you wont drive a Ford, because your great grandfather had issues with his Model T Ford... It is also an indication of how much more experience Ford has with making Pick Up trucks.

Maybe Ford had all the experience but VW raised the bar for all manufacturers when they released the Amarok. I still think we shouldn't bash the Amaford yet, maybe they come to the party with the joint venture.

I sold my January 2020 Ranger today. 3 mechanical problems within the first 4 months of ownership - gearbox, air intake and injector. Trading it in with rattling shocks or whatever at the back. My cousin stood next to Atterbury road with his 2020 biTurbo Wildtrak after 4,000km - injectors.

So it's not just grandpa's model T that broke...

My (ex)buurman se het laas jaar n bi-turbo ranger gekoop, nadat hy van die heel eerste 3.2 rangers, en toe nog een gehad het. Rofweg 4 jaar elk. Voor dit n 3.0 ranger.

Bi turbo het meer by ford gestaan as by hom. Hulle vat hom nou terug, en gee n nuwe een vir hom. Beide sy gearbox, sowel as engine was al vervang.

Beide die 3.2 rangers het ook n engine onder waarborg vervang gehad.
Vrywaring: Niks wat ek hier kwyt raak moet hoegenaamd as feite beskou word nie.

I have 2 Ranger 3.2s both have more than 50k km on now

    One manual one auto

I have had an issue with the reverse camera on the Auto.. was fixes at 15k service...

    Nothing else

And anyone who knows how me or my son drives knows that if something should have broken it would have.

No not really...just because not everyone shares their bad experience doesnt mean its not happening...most people just cant be bothered....thats why I very much appreciate the fact that some people actually take the time to share their experiences....helps others make a better purchase decision

For those who are interested, I am not loyal or hung up on any particular brand of vehicle like some folks on this forum, to an alarming extent in my opinion, but Iím more than happy with my 2013 3.2 ranger. Itís given me 80 000 trouble free km around Southern Africa. Literally not a single issue. Itís the first ford that I own and Iím very happy with it. Perhaps Iím lucky, who knows.

My volgende dc sal heel waarskynlik of n amarok, of hoogs onwaarskynlik, n merc wees. 2de hands natuurlik. Of as baie buite perd n ou navara. Want dit is al wat mens in n v6 diesel kry.
