    Default Kgalagadi in December.....Cov 19

Looking for advice on practicality of such a trip if the borders would be closed.

Traveling with Conquerer Commander dates 24Dec-5Jan.

Done that a couple of years ago. Entered at Twee Rivieren, camped at Rooiputs, then Nossob and ended up in Mpaya, with Sarel and Elize. Apart from the shocks that collapsed on the way to Nossob, no problems at all. We were on Solar power all the way, enough water and fuel for 10 days.

The shocks were less than 2 years old at the time, the manufacturer would not honor the warranty. Just bought new shock and continued camping. But we would have done it again if I didn't sold the van in the mean time. Was a great experience.

I towed with a Hilux KZTE, just after I replaced the head and fitted a Cirrus intercooler. Best mod I could have done.
I might be a FOOL, but I am an OLD fool - from unknown.

Well we first need to assume that the national parks will be open for overnight stays by then.

If you don't intend exiting the park on the Botswana side (or entering from Botswana for that matter), you will be able to do it. There were people on the forum who still went to Mabua just after the borders closed. BUT they entered and exited via Twee Rivieren.

Ockert, would you say itís worthwhile if itís only possible to explore the SA side?

    Absolutely for sure.

We have yet to have a bad Kgalagadi trip (look for my trip reports).

    You have main camps

Camps with upgraded facilities, such as Nossob private sites

All of the camps have great game drive routes.

The whole park revolves around the waterhole placements and there is always something to see.
Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.
