Question Nissan Hardbody 3.0 16V Td Poor Acceleration

Hi guys. I've got a 2004 Nissan Hardbody 3.0 16V Td. It's got about 244 000km on the clock and it's been feeling very lazy when pulling away/under acceleration. And as a result, the fuel consumption has also become worse. I've been doing a lot of research and I can't seem to find a decent answer. I've already replaced the boost pipes as they were leaking slightly. I've had the turbo overhauled. I've replaced the catalytic converter. There is oil in my intake manifold. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be there. I have read about the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) that can be faulty or clogged. But I haven't really checked that out yet. Can anyone help? Maybe have any ideas what it could be?

Check the sponge filter in the top of the left fender. Mine got so clogged it was not letting air in.

I haven't done that. Any idea how much it would cost to get the test done?

There is a hole in the plastic guard in the wheel arch about two thirds up. It was just big enough to get my arm in.

The first time mine got blocked was after playing in mud , I started removing and washing it every time we had a lot of dust or mud there after.

I'll fiddle with the wheel arch next week.
Any other suggestions? Things to look at? So far I'm going to be looking at the sponge in the wheel arch and the EGR.

I've only hear of one person who had an issue with their Crank Angle Sensor which is keyed onto the crankshaft... The actual key was worn. I'm not sure how big the chances are that that's the issue with my bakkie.

If any of you have anything to add, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm genuinely stumped.

And I don't want to take it in for a chip or remap because I'm not sure the engine is 100% fine. I'd do that at a later stage. No point putting unnecessary pressure on the engine at this stage

Any decent Mechanic can do that with 1 hour labour charge.

I don't have the right equipment or experience to do that by myself.

Did not expect that you should have - just giving you some proof if/when a Mechanic starts quoting you ridiculous amounts

At what stage does one start looking at the diesel pump pressure and the injectors?

Well I'd imagine that one would look that when there's quite a bit of black smoke coming from the exhaust. I just have a feeling that I should hold out on that one for now... I have no idea why, but I'll look at that last.

White smoke when idling or smoke whilst driving.

Black smoke under acceleration is normally caused by a split turbo pipe and/or over fueling.

I agree, he knows the ZD30 very well. And he probably can check the ECU codes as well.
