    Default Warning - Sneaky Multichoice

I went through my bank statement today to look for something else, when I noticed, Mutichoice debit order for R699 went off yesterday, this despite me cancelling DSTV over 2 years ago! Sneaky bastards!!!
I reversed the debit order via online banking but this will cost me R2

Don't you get messages when money goes out your account? It could have been going off all this time and you only realize now?

Thumbs down Re: Warning - Sneaky Multichoice

Er indoors has a Telkom LTE card in her tablet, which comes off every month end. Now suddenly for the last two months, an extra R9.99 is debited on the 15th Calling them is like poking hot needles in your eyes, so it is going to have to be a trip for her to go and commune with the dead about this!
Oh and DSTV debited us for two months AFTER we had cancelled! Paid it back no problem, but each time having to go through the same BS to get it sorted!

Nope, first time since cancellation. If I steal, or try to steal R700 from somebody, I will be in it deep. These bastards will just hide behind some "error"

life is too short manage paying the myriad of bills each month, debit orders are a convenient and efficient way to pay bills.

besides, a company with a debit order facility can still debit you account even though you have not signed anything.

Exactly why you don't need this debit order kuk. Time to take charge of your life. Let them worry about you paying instead of you worrying about you paying and it costing you money when you can't. Fuggem. Let them run after you rather.

exactly, our company often has errant debit orders coming off, usually for some rubbish "legal insurance" product.

I agree with the sentiments about debit orders - I have found far too much incompetence, incorrect billing, duplicate billing, etc... Wherever I can, I pay EFT upon presentation of invoice. There are a few cases where it is hard - but if there is a competitor offering similar services, even at a slightly higher price, and I can EFT and be in control of the financial flow, that competitor will get my business.

This is my 4th country as an expat -- nowhere else have I experienced the extent of incompetence coupled with customer service apathy, particularly from large companies, and particularly SOEs, as I have seen in SA. On the other hand, the service provided by smaller companies - most recent pleasures have been dealing with REPCOM (FamilyDog), and Tino from 4x4Outdoor - are among the highest standard I have ever seen - anywhere.

The likes of Makro, Telcom, and even some professional services companies - Regus SA, some medical / doctor offices... shockingly bad. A debit order is like a blank check. No thanks. Yes, it can be reversed, etc - that's not the issue. It is the immense waste of my time in the face of inept customer service that is the issue.

Ja sadly its the case in our little country.... people dont give a sh....t about doing their job properly, everyone wants a JOB, no one wants to WORK.

But ja these days its nearly impossible to function without debit orders. Telkom has been trying to get me to sign a debit order for a long time (for the phone & dsl line) but I refuse and still pay monthly at the checkers or spar money market kiosk - I have heard way too many horror stories of them and people having problems with cancelling their services.

There are some that understand one needs to earn a salary
