Default An appeal to the younger generation

Or those stuck in their ways....

Let me start off by saying I have many friends of all backgrounds so I have no problem with those who choose to do what probably wouldn't but the stats are clear. Alcohol is a major problem in this society.
Last night at about 10pm I lost a younger cousin at 24 years old on his way home from work where an accident occurred. Not even 24hrs after alcohol is on sale again he met a drunken driver with his bike just a few roads away from being safely home. As with any accident some facts may be hidden forever (was he speeding, was the other vehicle in the wrong etc) but what is clear is that the 'drunk car' drove away and returned a while later with a sober driver. We all know what that sounds like, I don't think that part needs an explanantion. For now we can only assume what seems to have happened given the chain of events and that can't be changed. Fact is, he is gone and his parents and family are left with the scars.

    ....I'll end at that....

I am sorry for the loss but i must ask, how do you know it was a drunk driver if they drove away?
Could just as easily be an unlicensed driver or somebody who panicked?

Again, the facts will probably never be clear but one remains and that somebody's child is dead and for that i am truly sorry.

    Very sorry for your loss!

I think the first line of your post is very important. From my experience a lot of the younger generation have grown up with access to Uber etc and tend to not even get in the habit of drinking and driving (exceptions of course). My experience is that it is my generation and up who have grown accustomed to dodging the law and driving whilst under the influence, initially because Uber and the like didn't exist and now the costs of an Uber would rather be poured into another drink and I've never been caught before so why change now.

Unfortunately you can get away with over and over again but it only takes one incident to change your and the victims lives forever.

Witnesses saw those guys drinking over there and before leaving the scene they quickly dragged his body out of the road and behind a tree to hide it then came back with a different person who wasn't with the drinking group. One of them was also an off duty policeman.

All of this on the first day alcohol is back in the shelves.

Nabs, my sincere condolences to you and your family on the tragic passing of such a young life with unlimited potential.

While I understand your anger at this senseless accident, alcohol, per se, was not the cause. Alcohol abuse and irresponsibility on behalf of an individual or individuals was the cause.

Once again, condolences on your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss. Tragic.

I must look to myself when I say we are too reluctant to sleep over, get a taxi or uber, phone a friend, good fellas or whatever when we have had a few drinks but feel "fine"; maybe even under the legal limit but still not 100%; particularly at night. Lesson noted.

Yep, the alcohol ban is lifted, my neighbours were motherless drunk and fought until 2 am this morning outside in the street, luckily someone phoned the police.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.

That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Condolences to the family and may he attain a high place in heaven.

Sources close to this incident highlighted the following: The driver ran away - they caught the passengers (so driver will be found) - boot had lots of liquor - some still full.

Alcohol abuse happens when Alcohol sales are not controlled after such lengthy lockdown and inevtiably someone will come off second best because of that. This surely is a sad eye opener.

I would like to start with giving you and your family my condolences and preyers through this tragic journey.
I normaly get so worked up when hearing about motorcycle accidents as out of personal experience most drivers does not have any respect for motorcyclists even if you take alcohol out of the equation. Though the details of accident will be hidden as to what actually happen and who is at fault. My point of view would be to get people more aware of motorcycles and for the percentage of motorcyclist to also be more responsible.
