GPS not aquiring Satellites

Recently my Garmin Nuvi 500 seemed to stop working. It wasn't able to find the satellites, this seemed to be a intermittent problem.

It turns out that the cigarette lighter radio transmitter I'd recently bought was the problem. The radio transmitter was interfering with the gps.

I thought I'd share this info incase any one else has a similar problem in the future. Apparently some tracking devises can have a similar effect.

yep I asked this question last year.The out come was these radio transmitters out put signal acts as a signal blocker to the GPS.Had lots of swear words,only way I got the GPS to work was when I had enough of the tapped music,pulled the radio transmitter out and GPS signal back,very frustrating at 2am when traveling.

I have an old nüvi 200w which does not acquire satellites
I reloaded the software and did a master reset. None of which worked.

Any advice please?

Did you do an update or buy an update. Also check that on board car system does not interfere with gps or did you try it outside away from building.
