Default Level 3 Lockdown - Trail Open

I see under level 3 Lockdown under tourist attractions selfdrive is allowed?

    https://mybroadband.co.za/news/trend...own-rules.html

Does this mean that 4x4 trails will be open?

Suppose it has to be in your own province then...

I'm certainly interested in how that will be interpreted. The various 4x4 trails that are on private land - can they open and operate, as long as they are not operating as a lodge? There seems to be a pretty direct conflict, because the regs say no private or public game reserves are to operate. Can't imagine there would be any conflict or ambiguity in these regs. How strange.

Yoh immediately as you said this I started watching some videos of local trails wondering where will I take the Amarok.

Well my nenemesis is Gert se klip.

I wonder if a standard AMAROK has enough clearance and if it can do it without a low range?

    Someday!

And then for bonus I must take the Velar up there as well.

The law says what you can't do, why ask permission if it doesn't specifically say you can't?

Gert se klip (at De Wildt) or Koos se klip (at Moegatle)?

In my opinion Gert se klip is the minimum entry requirement to calling a vehicle a 4x4. It is not a difficult obstacle at all, in fact I have seen guys with standard high-rider 2WD bakkies drive it successfully. The only guy I have ever seen fail was drunk as a coot.

The big hill at Hennops (I have forgotten the official name of the obstacle, but it's the one you find if you turn left at the mud-hole and go straight up) is a far more difficult obstacle.

Koos se klip at Moegatle: Well, that's a diffirent story entirely. But it suits a relatively low car (as long as the front and rear overhangs are not too long and low) and road tires. The softer the compound, the better.

In my opinion 4x4 excursions would fall under domestic tourism. It is also a self drive activity, so as long as all published requirements (masks and distancing) is observed I cannot see how this would not be allowed.
