Default New boots for NP300 4x4

    Ladies and Gents,

    I've had a NP300 4x4 2.4 single cab petrol for the past 7 years. It's a "kanniedood".

The truck's role on our company has changed twice and it's about to change again. At the moment it has generic "4x4" tyres in 215/80R15C. ie Factory spec tyres. They're not going to cut it for the amount of offroad work the truck will be doing. MT's aren't really an option as the truck does 95% tar and only 5% offroad.

I now need to get some proper rubber on the truck, ie BFG or Cooper AT.

I can't find those brands in that size.

What size tyres can I fit onto this truck? What does one do to get the speedo to work properly?

I've owned 4x4's for more than 30 years. This will be the first time I'll be fitting non standard rubber. I'm a complete n00b at this.

    Thank you.

Go to TWAT and get a set of Velocity Raptors. You can't beat them for price and value for money.

I avoid all tyres with names that sound like they come from movies or toy shops

Yeah, I have a set on my Fordjie and so far I like it a lot and considering the price.

You can easily fit 245/70R15's in stead of them 215's - wont affect the speedo when looking at the comparison in rolling diameter which is exactly the same.

Your loss. Brilliant tyre. On my second set. Makes Dunlop SP Trakgrips look like cheap Chinese rejects.

Your current tire is 28.5" diameter. You can go up to maximum 31.5" without modifications.

I have the NP300 2.5TDI low rider. I changed the 195R15C tyres for 245/75R15 and they fit without any issues so on the 4x4 it will work as well.

They guy at the tyre shop said they pick up balancing issues on the Tracgrips after 20 000km.
I settled for Royal Black a/t at R1500 per tyre.

I put 245/75R15 Genneral Grabber AT3's on my Np300 4x4, they are doing great in sand. The size is not too big.
I am also testing the Dunlop AT3G on my Hilux, they are more suitable for gravel and rocky roads.

Those of you with the 245's...

Are you using stock rims, or wider rims / mags / alloys?

    Thanks.

Is that a different offset rim from the standard?

I have 265s and it doesn't have the "look" like your 245s.

They may be offset, I don't know.
