Default 2022 Ford Ranger and Everest

I found this interesting article on the new 2022 Ranger and Everest. The addition of PHEV technology with claimed consumption figures of 3.0liters per 100km for a 2.3 turbocharged petrol PHEV will definitely shake up the bakkie/SUV market.

    That's for the EU test.

    Real world won't see that.

Hi, correction: that consumption figure is for the 2.3 hybrid engine.

"The Ranger and Everest PHEV will produce 270kW of power and 680Nm of torque, and is expected to offer a combined fuel economy of 3.0 litres of fuel per 100km"

Will be very interesting to see if we get the hybrid... Also I wonder; since this is to be a joint venture between VW and Ford if the 3.0 V6 they refer to would be a tweaked version of the VW unit in the current Amarok.

An Everest with that 3.0 V6 would be sweet...

As I understand it, it is not the VW motor - it is the Powerstroke V6 as introduced in the F-series from 2018:

    "
    3.0 Power Stroke
    A 3.0 liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V6 was introduced in the new 2018 Ford F-150 as a medium duty engine to compete with the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel V6. The 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel generates 250 hp (186 kW) and 440 lb⋅ft (597 N⋅m) of torque, paired with a Ford-GM 10-speed automatic transmission, providing a towing capability of 11,440 lb (5,189 kg). EPA-estimated fuel efficiency ratings are 30 mpg‑US (7.8 L/100 km; 36 mpg‑imp) highway, 22 mpg‑US (11 L/100 km; 26 mpg‑imp) city, and 25 mpg‑US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg‑imp) combined.[14] "

Yes 3.0l Power Stroke = 3.0l Lion engine = 3.0l Peugeot engine. Same engine as in the Land Rover Discovery and Peugeot Dakar racers.
It is not what you buy its what you build.

It's based on the LD motor but it has been upgraded considerably.
Nissan Navara v9x - Good for towing, not good for driving into trees.
Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost - For the wife.
80 Series cruiser - To use the fuel I save on the other two.
    Hilux - Work mobile

    Hi

I would like some advice, looking to buy a Ford Everest, my options are a 2016 Ford everest 3.2 limited (80 000km) or a 2018 Ford everest 2x4 ( 68 000km). What do I go for? I love the occasional off roading and only towing a trailer.
