Hope our National Parks start doing the same because the borders won't open soon I suspect.

    Hie Mike
Just used my permit today, rushed to Maun to do something. Every establishment you enter, they get you full name, number and A MASK is a MUST.
The trick about parks is they are in different zones, Makgadikgadi NP Khumaga is in Boteti, CKGR is in Ghanzi. When you in Ghanzi you access CKGR without a permit, but coming from Rakops, You would need one.
I tried Matswere gate yesterday, I was told, even though the parks are OPENED, they are still waiting for fumigation first. So, will follow it up Monday and check how the fumigation process is going. I think they are still waiting for the furmigation company to come from somewhere. BUT once opened, I wont even hesitate...BOOKINGS are currently zero and can choose which ever campsite in CKGR i want, just have to call and pay online and im off to Piper.

Apparently, as of next week, we be able to use info on smartphones to be scanned when entering establishments to eliminate the need to write your pedigree in registers.

    The question remains:

How are we guys from Gabz allowed to head into Moremi for example.
I am not sure if on-line (if it would work) allows to give reasons like "boosting local tourism" and after info we have a permit is limited to 5 days.

So for the moment it does not seem a viable plan.

The reasoning behind this whole thing evades me....copy cat SA decisions, limiting economic growth, etc.

Coming from Down South to North, it takes alot of reasoning to get a permit. Its very difficult, let alone applying for holidaying. Most of the prominent lodges in North are still closed, guesthouses opened. I think we will get a clear picture this week but coming from Gaborone to head up North is still very very difficult.

Wish you local Bots. residents an amazing time, the parks must be special without too much people plus who knows what happened as the animals did not encounter too many humans.

Enjoy these rare moments and please share your stories.

    Cheers

    Johan

Had dates in Namibia and Botswana for September, moved all to 2021, was not that difficult.

Botswana's state of emergency might end in October, but that does not by default mean that SA will open it's borders then.

Personally, I will not be inclined to make any bookings in a neighboring country for this year until we have 100% confirmation when SA is opening borders for leisure travel.

I also suspect that transfrontier parks, like the KTP, will remain closed until Sanparks parks are open AND the borders are open.

Great news! Thanks for the heads up. We will be coming from Maun in June, so we need a movement permit into Boteti zone in order to use Matswere Gate?
And just a heads up folks, we have Kori 3 booked and paid (long standing) from 13-21 June - so please, please don't take our space!!

Yes you do need a permit, as you will be crossing the Vet fence. Hahahah, I love Kori 02, so your 13-21 June dates are fine. For me I will do Deception and Piper, so plan is to leave this Thursday. Will give you feedback when i get back.
