    Default Hilux wanted. Advice please.

    Hello guys

    I have 250k to spend.

I want a xcab Hilux, a 4x4 would be preferred but also not a must!

I would like decent feul consumption., will be used for surf missions odd camping trips and gravel roads.

Will be used for a couple trips down to CT from Jbay.

I was looking at the 2.4 or 2.5 or 3.0.

There are newer 2.8 models with km's to match.

I need your advice please guys.

The daily drive for the family is a VW Transporter.
So no need for the double cab, prefer to have the larger load bin.

    Thanks in advance.
    Vasbyt.

With that budget you should be able to pick a pretty decent 2.4 GD6 model.

WW, you can phone Pieter Loubser. He is selling a 2012 3.0 D4D CCab 4x2 with 135000km. Bakkie is white and mint. He wants to buy a car. I think he might be slightly negotiable. He is just round the corner from you. R230 000

Agree, imo R230k is too much for an eight year old 2x4......stretch and get a 2.4

I doubt it. Ive been looking and those that are under 300k have over 150k kilometres on the clock.

Agree. I went through the exercise 4 months ago. Eventually bit the bullet and bought a 2.8 GD6 since Hiluxes second hand go for crazy prices. A 2.4 GD6 for 250k will have at least 300000km on the clock!

    Granted I don't have a 4x4, in 2018 I paid R300k for my 2017 2.4 GD6 S/C with 27000km on. While looking for a Hilux I found 4 in similar price range and kilometers.

    I sold my 2016 4x4dc 2.4 for just over 300.

I've had both a 2.4 and a 3 l. The 2.4 is a lot lighter on fuel and very gutsy.

    Pleasure to drive.

If you are upping the budget to 300 I would hold out for a 2. 4

There is only one reason I would consider the 3l is that I think it is more rust resistant for surfing trip duties.(This is pure feeling I can't backbit up.) Neither of mine rusted but I have heard some problems with bodywork of the first few Revo.

Think about it very carefully and go drive a GD6.
The D4D has nothing on the GD6, this I can promise you, I have had both.

    Some feedback.

Contacted the dealership who was looking after this particular Legend 45.
Last service completed at 120k which is apparently a major service, full history with this dealer.

However during the course of this 120k this vehicle has had a new clutch fitted and few other odds and ends all done under the Toyota warranty of the vehicle with the dealer. Was worked on a farm prior coming to the city....

This chap is 2nd owner and bought the vehicle less than a year ago and put maybe 1000km on the clock. Spoke to him today, works out of country and is just not using the vehicle hence trying to sell.

It all sound legit enough, especially with the work all carried out under the vehicles warranty time.

Anything sending alarm bells off you guys??

    Cheers
