    Default Victa Lawnmower restoration

    Hi All

I came across a 1980 VICTA lawnmower recently that has been standing in a shed for over 10 years. My plan is to restore it to its former glory. The chassis and overall structure is stil in good condition.

The problem I have is that the carburetor is shot. I have phoned all the lawnmower shops that I can think of, and the best imported price I can get for a new carb does not make the project attractive.

I need the small diaphragm that governs the engine speed to prevent over revving.

Does anyone have a old Victa Carby laying around that is willing to part if it?

I have the exact same issue also on a Victa Lawnmover.

So please share whatever alternative you come up with, as these lawnmowers generally last.

The one I have I grew up with, mowing away every Saturday since I was 9 years old.

The model I have is the 160cc 2 Stroke

Can't you just import the diaphragm seal? And if it's more then one then you guys can just split the import costs?

I got the mower started by adapting my 160cc Weed-eater Carby with a makeshift rubber adapter. But Once it starts, the revs runs extremely high to a point where the motor wont be able to last, and there is no way for me to throttle it.

Yes, if i spend more time on it, I can maybe re adjust the entire throttle/vacuum/governor system, But i was hoping not to go that route.

I have colleagues who live in Australia who will be able to bring the bits in from there to me at work.
Be warned, though, this can take months because I work on a 6 week cycle normally, but Covid has dumped that on it's head, and the one guy is doing a few MONTHS in to play catch-up.

I had exactly the same mower with exactly the same issue. Ran perfectly but also started to run high into the revs I thought it would explode like a runaway diesel. Tried rebuilding carb - Ended up passing it on.

Already 10 years ago struggled to get these parts reliably. Still one of the best mowers I have owned together with an original Robyn EC10 - still going strong.

You can also try Alpha. They import lawnmower parts and supplies to lawnmower shops.

I recently restored a Yamaha lawnmower and bought some parts from them. Very helpfull oom

Have you tried contacting the seller? I have found that some sellers have their accounts set up incorrectly regarding countries that they don't ship to. Have also had sellers that were willing to ship after I asked.

If not, you can always try drop shipping?

I had their old catalogue from 2017. There they had Victa spares listed

The new one on website does not list Victa spares anymore

They don't deal direct with the public AFAIK
