    Default Garmin trips, waypoints on Google Earth - Missing

    I could view Mapsource/Basecamp trips and waypoints on Google Earth through the link "View/View in Google Earth."

    Now that facility is gone. I get sent to a dialogue box that tells me to instal Google Earth. I uninstalled G Earth and reinstalled.

    It seems the issue is at Garmin.

    Any assistance from someone perhaps? Please!!

    Johan,

So gemaak, en nou werk myne weer.

    Groete

    When Google Earth Pro was released some years ago, I had the same problem. (For a change the problem was with GE and not Garmin). There was an easy solution, but I cannot remember how.

    Let me ask the interwebs.

    Here it is:

    http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/5594-v...-earth-problem

    https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/ind...gle-earth-pro/

    https://support.google.com/maps/foru...%2Fuok8DaHi4FU

    http://forums.gpsreview.net/discussi...ncompatibility

    The bottom line is you must find out where the 'googleearth.exe' file is in your version of Windows. Then do the /RegServer from the command line.

    You can find a work around here (also remember that if you have a GDB/GPX file, you can directly import it into Google Earth): https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum....php?p=3822540

    Google Earth Viewing Problems (2):

    Today, 16 Feb 2018, I picked up the problem again where the "View in Google Earth" function did not work. It says that Google earth is not running or installed. I picked up a post in a Garmin Support forum where they state that this function is no longer working and that one has to export your BaseCamp data and then import it into Google Earth. This is not an ideal situation, but it is one of those thing that we cannot change.

    Your 1st step would be to select your BaseCamp data and then use the export function to export it. This is how it can be done:

    Exporting user data from BaseCampUser data such as routes, tracks, and waypoints can be exported from Garmin BaseCamp to be shared or used with other third-party software. The exported files can also be used as a backup for the user data or a way to transfer that information to a different computer.
    Multiple formats are available:

    * GPS eXchange Format (.gpx)
    * Garmin GPS Database Files (.gdb)
    * Comma-delimited text (.csv)
    * KML 2.2 Document, v2 (.kml) - USE THIS FORMAT FOR IMPORTING INTO GOOGLE EARTH
    * Garmin Training Center XML Document (.tcx)
    * Tab-delimited text (.txt)

    If the data is being exported as a backup or with the intention of reopening it with BaseCamp or another Garmin application, the .gpx or .gdb format would be recommended. The other formats are primarily used if the data is being transferred to a third-party software program such as Google Earth which uses the .kml file format.
    To export user data from BaseCamp:

    1. Open BaseCamp
    2. Select the information to be exported:
    1. My Collection can be selected to export all user data stored in BaseCamp
    2. A specific list or folder can be selected to export only its contents*
    3. Specific items can be highlighted in the lower left pane by clicking a single route/track/waypoint or using CTRL+Click or Shift+Click to highlight multiple items
    Click on the File drop down menuHighlight ExportChoose to export the desired folder/list or the current selectionChoose a name, format, and location to save the exported dataClick Save
    The file containing user data from BaseCamp has now bee exported and saved to your computer. Take note where you save it in order to find it easily for the next step to import it into Google Earth.

    The 2nd step would be to import your saved date into Google Earth. It can be done as follows:

    To import the user data into Google Earth:

    1. Open Google Earth or Google Earth Pro
    2. Click File
    3. Click Open...
    4. Browse to and select the file that was exported using BaseCamp
    5. Click Open

    The data will now appear in Google Earth or Google Earth Pro Places.

    Dankie Daniek

    Ek het hom nou so in G Earth. Net jammer die import/export sal nou elke keer gedoen word, en nie meer die outomatiese kliek heen en weer nie?

    Hoekom is hierdie klomp so blerrie jaloers op mekaar en nie wil saamwerk nie? Ons is mos almal grootmense!
