The picture on the left is on the firewall, passanger side of the vehicle. Does not look like orriginal land rover wiring. Looks like its been butchered.

    Thanks for the help!

Ps... I'm building the worlds nicest most capable disco 1. I'm not going to spare on quality and cost. Will post regular pics. But need advice as to how to do this? do i start a thread similar to this?

First one, no idea. Second one looks like a crankcase vapour catch can.

Left is a resistor which could be for LED headlights. Refer to the topic "LED Headlights" in the 4x4 Pub section.

I think that canister has something to do with fuel venting/purging for the carb (or maybe fuel tank?)

Is the first one not something to do with the radio antennae? Looks a bit like a radio ground.

Iíve seen power resistors used like that to trick ECU that an electronic shock absorber has been replaced with a manual one. Otherwise the ECU will display a fault. Possible that if itís not for LED light, it could be doing that?

So what have you got planned?

    Stretching the wheelbase?
    Disco 2 differentials?
    Body lift?
    Suspension?
    LS 3 engine conversion?

In the world of D1 mods you'll have to fork out a very, VERY large sum of money to build the nicest most capable one. I don't want to discourage you, hope you have fun with it.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the help. The fuel purge canister is def stock, looks perfect.

She was a one owner landy, my cousin. He never fitted LED's or anything. Bog Standard. Lots of tampering with over the years though with different mechanics over the country having a go.

Anyway. I have removed for re-fitment later.

    Thanks all.

I have a 1996 Tdi and it also has that resistor in the first picture! Also not connected to anything.

That first picture is definitely a Land Rover Part , But all I can find out that it is part of the (GLOW PLUG TIMER,CATALYST OVERHEAT,DIM DIP SYSTEM & AMP OVERHEAT WARNING ). My Russian stinks so I am not 100% sure.

Interesting! I looked at mine again today after removing my engine. My first assumption that it was not connected to anything, was not correct. It has a proper plug and goes into the wiring harness.

Ironically my previous Disco didn't have it.

I have posted the picture on a land rover group I belong to and this is the response I got from a guy in the UK
"Dim dip for the head lights .....
When you turn the side lights on it puts a little voltage to the headlights"

Mine also does not have this !
