Default Nissan NP 300 2.5 tdi EGR

Has anyone blanked the EGR on their 2.5tdi yet?
Reenen I am sure you have...
If so where did you put the blanking plate and did you have to do anything else?

On many you can just take out the arm that connects the solenoid to the actual valve.

I was considering this modification on my 2.5 NP300.

What are the benefits and risks involved?

If you decide to go ahead, please post a few photos - will be much appreciated.

My EGR got stuck at some point (about 4 years ago)

With lots of short slow trips the DPF/CAT thing clogged up badly

Removed the EGR valve and cleaned out the muck causing it to stick, reinstalled

Removed the manifold portion that contained the DPF and chiseled out the bloody thing inside, replaced without DPF

No issues since....runs like a steam train

Don't know if your specific vehicle made excessive smoke. My experiance is that almost all of them do.

But would you say it now smokes less?

My NP 300 throw to much smoke for my liking and although NTT Nissan Bloemfontein says it is normal, I suspect the EGR to be the main culprit or otherwise a major contributing factor.

The vehicle is still under warrantee so I unfortunately cannot touch the EGR.

Just want to know if blocking the EGR made a difference smoking wise.

When I had a problem with the EGR it did smoke more and when the DPF clogged it tend to have no turbo boost at all
Note I only cleaned the EGR valve and replaced it.
I removed the DPF - since then it does still smoke a little under hard acceleration from standstill (all YD25's do), but once up the revs it does not smoke at all
