    Default Wild Card ?

For many years we have had the Wild Card (National) which covers all SANPB controlled reserves throughout RSA and some of the Eswatini (Swaziland) reserves.
Mine expired in April this year and since there was little chance that we would be going out and about I did not renew it.
I believe that one can renew online at any of the SANPB receptions.
    My question is:
Would we have to pay up fro the skipped months or would we simply get a new 12 month subscription from the date of renewal or from the date of lapse ?
Anyone had some experience with this ?

When you pay it is just for the next 12 months. no pay for expired time. They keep your number and details on their system so that is very easy to renew.

You can also renew the card at any check-in point at a National Park - no need to do it in advance.

We renewed our wildcard on 08/04/2020 due to an upcoming Kruger holiday that was to start on 17/04/2020.

Then the original lock-down got extended indefinitely.

Below is Wildcard's reply to me upon inquiring about the fact that we can not use the card.

"Kindly note that, the membership will be extended with days/months that were affected by the lock-down after it has been lifted."

Worth bearing in that St Lucia, Mkhuze and possibly Sodwana and Kosi fall under under the Isimangaliso banner and not Ezemvelo.

The last time I was up there, Ezemvelo Rhino cards were valid for the Isimangaliso Parks, but my Wildcard was not. So if I renewed my Wild Card I was going to take the option that excludes KZN, and buy a Rhino Card.

I queried my wild card membership with SANPARKS last week. I asked if I can the days that I missed back as an extension. My card expired middle June 2020. They came back to me and said that I can extend the current membership with the days that I lost while they were closed. It is 83 days I think. With this, they said that they will extend it from the day that I ask them to do so, i.e. just before my next visit to the Kruger or so. I am thus not renewing now but I will use the extension when it is time. I will then just take the email with as back up.

Hope this helps. See email response below.

You may request for an extension when you are certain that you will be visiting the parks, otherwise you will forfeit the extended day which will remain unused (due to Lockdown restrictions).

The extension may be requested even a day before visiting the parks and it will be granted.

The extension is granted on the day of request, equivalent to the number of days you have lost during the Lockdown season.

If you request for an extension today, you will be given 83 days (expiration date will be 20 October 2020).

    J

Wait for black Friday in November before you renew, they usually have big discounts then.

Yes My Wild Card expired in Nov 2019 and my wallet with Wild card and the rest of my life was stolen in Dec ..I applied for a new card ..Took 6 months to get ..Cost R100 for the new one ..We are only going to Kruger in Aug /Sept next year so will renew on about April to get Winter light practice at Addo as that time of year is best in Addo ..Its a waste now as I have just changed to Mirrorless and Nikons Wild Life Lenses only come out next year ..So Yes Peter you can renew online anytime you feel like it
