Default 2.2 Ranger: Battery after 8 weeks standing question

I have a 2.2 Ranger that has been standing for 8 weeks and I need to move it. Don't want to just try start it as I am scared it will just kill the battery. I want to put a batt charger on it first for an hour or so, but should I disconnect the battery first or can I just connect it whilst everything is connected? Don't want to blow anything up and also would like to try save the battery. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Just try and start it. If it doesnt start then you can charge the battery. I think its safer to disconnect and charge.

I put a 13.8V charger on my old Focus's battery as is. Two hours. No problem experienced. She was standing for the same period in my garage. I think a booster may damage your alternator.

Fyi, battery was finished. Dead. Not even a light came on. I will just replace it tomorrow. Doubt it will even charge. Will try but it seems 8 weeks was a bit too long.

How old is the battery and do you have a tracking unit fitted?

Just some background to this story: It has been a very sad year for us as a family, and this Ranger was the pride and joy of my late brother AntonN, a member on this forum, and especially active on this Ford group. Some of you might have known him. Anton passed away in hospital after complications from a liver transplant 29 Feb after he was diagnosed in October with liver cancer. Apologies for never posting here of his passing. It never even crossed my mind due to the absolute chaos of this year so far. I have to move the bakkie to my house as I have to put tenants in his house this weekend.

I have no idea how old the battery is. At least two years for sure. In my experience once a car battery is flat like that I just replace it. It is never the same. And it has a tracker, I am sure.

Now the question: Who will replace a battery at your house? I phoned AA and I am not a member, so the callout fee is R1050+cost of battery. I am very time constrained so cannot drive around and fiddle with batteries now. I will just pay to have them replace it. Unless someone here knows of another company providing such a service.

Thanks for your help so far.

You perhaps do not have another vehicle who's battery you could use? Temporarily

Battery centre etc normally do it themselves, just phone a few and you will get one.

Phoned Battery Centre Boksburg now, they don't do callouts. Also called Germiston but their phone dont even ring. I also don't have another battery, and like I said I am a bit tight on time. So AA is going to be my best option at this time. Gonna cost me but so be it. Time is critical for me now.
