Default Things to do on an Amarok

We bought an Amarok BiTDi Auto with just over a 100,000km on the clock a month before the lockdown.

To date I have done the following:

    - Service
    - Cambelt and waterpump
    - Front discs and pads

Things I still want to do once the lockdown is over:

    - EGR
    - Catalytic converter
    - Shocks
    - Gearbox oil change

Is there anything I missed that I should consider looking at at this stage?

As an aside, as stated I have already planned to replace the shocks as I am not happy with them, but just out of interest, do these shocks look like they might still be the original shocks?

That looks stock. I installed Bilstein B6 with a 30mm lift from Mikem.Click image for larger version.

Awesome maintenance you are doing and after all this work.

It should drive like a new car.

    Hi,
Did you do the gearbox oil change yourself?
    Oil you used?
Mine is almost on 140k and I am looking after it wrt maintenance and preventative maintenance , next I want to do is the Gearbox Oil.
VW says it has lifetime oil in it, what is your take on that?

Look out for the ZF specials on oil changes. I would rather them do it.

That is on the to-do list. The lockdown go in the way.

My plan is to take it to ZF and let them do the oil change.

Look, I know what the manufacturers say, but as a mechanical engineer there is just no way that I would expect a piece of mechanical equipment to work for years and thousands of cycles without any maintenance. Why should I expect different from my vehicle's gearbox?

Personal choice, but something that is non-negotiable for me personally.

Thanks. Must say, I am very surprised at the overall build quality of the vehicle, not a single rattle in the vehicle.

    Thx for the reply,

My sentiment is the same, cannot see how oil can last a "lifetime".
Think of a Amarok with 250k on, can you imagine the amount of cycles that went through!!

Check the EGR cooler and if fine, replace around 150 000kms.

I'm also planning on doing the gearbox oil soon (on 126K km now). I've already had to replace the EGR cooler (should have blanked it off...)

Any thoughts on oil replacement on other items (other than gearbox) such as diffs etc?

    When should this be done?

Just an update, the following has now been done:

    - Shocks replaced with Bilsteins
    - Gearbox and Diff oil changes done
    - EGR removed and blanked
    - Cat removed and replaced with downpipe
    - Powder coated intake pipe fitted

The last three were all done by John from G-Fab. Very happy with the work and results!

I have been using ravenol. I am trying to recall, but i think i do it every 80kish or so when I do the cam belt .

I spoke to James and he hooked me up with everything.
    I do,
    RAdiator Fuild
    Brake Fluid.
Front and Rear Diffs. (They use different oils)
    Transfer Box
    Gearbox.

Ravenol can supply you with everything including the oil pump.

Front diff is a pig. You may need to modify an allen key to get the fill cover off.

On shocks I also did Bilstein from Mikkems. THAt was around 200k km back and still happy.
