They feature here a lot. Also a 40L Engel, about 13 years old.

Stopped cooling a couple years back. Turned on it's head for a day or so and since then no issues again.

Engel 40L freezer, bought new 2000 and going strong with not a single issue after a vast number of trips, very rough conditions and high ambient heat. Once running continuously for 10 months.

Bought a SS NL40 in January 2005 (R5600 iirc), has not missed a beat. Would like to upgrade the wire baskets for the newer plastic ones.

Bought a second hand Waeco 40L in 2012 which was about 4 or 5 years old, that makes it about 13 years old. Got a slight problem with the control buttons / settings which I am sorting out. Running 24/7 with lockdown.

My Snomaster 40l was bought in 2003/4 somewhere, and lasted many a camping trip, and was used daily as backup freezer, until the Decemeber loadshedding played havoc on its electronics and I had to throw it out full of rotten meat (we were away for 2 weeks) and replaced it with the NL50l dual compartment, and now that one used used as additional freezer during lockdown. went camping during the latter part of Dec using the new NL, and I must say much better battery consumption on 12V than the old Snomaster

We bought a NL Weekender 52l in 2006, still going strong and when not camping is used daily as a beer fridge. Had the external compressor area cooling fan replaced and unit serviced at NL. I bought it from Makro when they phased out the NL products on special for R3999!

Got my 40lt Engel from Megaworld in Nelspruit for R4500 in 2006 or 7?

Replaced the cooling fan under the compressor because it was a bit noisy.
All the years of dusty conditions taking it's toll
No other issues and still purring as it was on day one apart from some dents and scratches it picked up over the years

The mobile fridge is an essential part of our off road "equipment" It is almost as if you build a relationship with it
Yes they are expensive, but as you read through the posts, they do last long and is worth the money spend.

Minus 40 from new in 2002. Blew the power supply (battery wrong way). Replaced with the one that output 8A to charge battery when on electric. Resprayed it once as i did too much fishing. Never a problem from fridge only operator.

Ek sou graag my 2 Engels se "fans " wil vervang...kan iemand my dalk verduidelik hoe ek te werk moet gaan asb..nee daar is niks fout met hulle nie..maar dink dit sal goed wees om so bietjie "preventative" onderhoud te doen.

Dis nou vir die Engel 40 asb

Engel 40l. Bought in 2013, it was already about 5years old. So roughly 12 years old now.

No issues. Use for camp/trips etc. and as an extra fridge at home.

    It's just brilliant.
