Default How old is your mobile fridge?

Just went through some old 4x4 photos and saw my 40L Engel in the back of my 80 series Cruiser since 2003. Think I bought it in 2002. That makes it going for 18 years and still going strong. Never had any problems with it.

I'm using a National Luna 90Lt, I bought it secondhand 6 years ago and it is also still running without any issues.

My Engel 40l was bought by me to me on my 40th birthday, now 13 years ago.

Runs 24/7 as a beer fridge unless on camp duty then it gets milk/meat and sh#t added

My 40L Engel has been serving me so well over the last 15 years since I bought it new. One of my favourite camping essentials!

Agree 100% I am thinking of buying a double compartment fridge/freezer (National Luna) As one always need to freeze something and to have ice. Then I got the idea of using my old 40L Engel as a freezer and buy a new 40L Engel to use as a fridge. I do have the space in the 105. What do you guys think - good idea or rather get the double?

National Luna 80 litre (stainless steel) since November 2000.

Only repairs was the 220/12V supply socket which I damaged. Otherwise as strong as Russia! Daily work horse for beer and wine when not in vehicle.

It cost R6200 20 years ago!

This is actually exactly my plan too. I've installed my 1st Engel (fridge for water & drinks) in my Companion, and my second Engel (deep freeze) is now in my bakkie. I spend a lot of time in the bush in Zim & Zambia, and the Oct/Nov times are really no fun with those temperatures & basically zero shade! So I keep both sides charged with my solar panels.

Edesa 5 star (small one) and Edesa 6 star, both approx. 35+ years old. Small one was recovered from the sea after a flood and the big one carried away by a Hyena and needed panelbeating. Both work perfectly on gas and 220V the moment you start them.
Waeco 50, about 15 years old.

I have 2 Weico CFO 50 that are more than 11 years old.. both worked fine until a month ago when the one stopped working on 12v.

    Still works fine on 220v.

    I'm sure it's a quick fix

Engel bought 2005 and still going strong. Haven't done any work on it yet, not even a service.
