    Default Tyre Profile Change

Would I be able to change the profile of the tyres on my 2016 Caddy TDI from 205/55/16 to 205/60/17 or even 205/70/16

Looking for more sidewall and possible higher load carrying index.

I assume you mean 205/60/16? For 17 you will need new rims too.

Yes should read 16 - Staying with 16 inch rims!

    Yes, this. ^^

A 205/60/16 will probably be fine. A 205/70/16 will probably be too big.

Jumping from 55 profile to 60 adds 20mms to the diameter of the tyre. Jumping to 70 profile adds about 60mms.

So 30mms (vs10mm for 60 profile) improved ground clearance under the vehicle for the 70 profile, but also the tyres are 30mms (vs10mm for the 60 profile) closer to the body. I'm pretty sure that's going to be too much.

Assuming you can fit them on and still cycle the suspension and steering, why not. I have 265/70 R17s on my amarock which is substantially taller than stock. Depending on the brand I get no issues. (With Maxxix Bravo AT I had very slight tyre rub at full lock)

You do need to be aware that you will raise the overall gearing somewhat. I am okay with the compromises but I do use 6th gear less than I otherwise wood. You will probably also use a little more fuel, but I cant say that I have noticed much. If these compromises are okay there is no reason not to charge assuming the tyres fit.
