    Default Toyota H260 Gearbox

Guys I am looking for as much as possible information on the Toyota H260 six speed Manual gearbox as find in Dyna and Hino trucks.
It were developed from the Land Cruiser H151 gearbox.

I am trying to find info on the net. But to date could not verify ratios. Bought an Ebook manual on the box but still waiting
    for the download link.

    Thanks

Christo ek het hierdie ratios raak gegoogle. Die H350 en H260 is dieselfde ratkaste, met die H350 wat net 5 spoed is.

Francois yes I am looking into the H260 for a six speed conversion on a v8 Cruiser.

I like the lower first ratio of the H260 that will add to the crawling abilities.
The longer 2nd and 3rd would also be nice in sand.
I hoped for a 5th gear closer to the 0.88 of the Cruiser and with a 6th gear around 0.7.

There are many things that makes the H260 attractive for a conversion. The gear lever and bellhousing from Cruiser is a straight bolt on.
Problem areas is the long spigot or input shaft on the H151. Do not think there is one for the H260 that match the length of the H151 on the V8 Cruiser.
I also hope that the output shaft match the spline count and diameter of the H151.

Have played with ratio calculators think the 6th on the H260 might be a tad too low.

Maybe in the end just a set of 35`s which will aid off road abilities to a large extend.

I love the torque of the Cruiser in 5th gear as is. Pleasure to overtake. Very few 4x4`s can match it from 100 to 140.

Grips, my FJ60 2F came out with a 4 speed gearbox. Some British company made overdrive gearboxes for those Cruisers, aftermarket. It sits on the normal gearbox and you got an additional lever next to the gear lever. It brings down the rpm nicely and lowers the 2F's fuel consumption. Maybe there is some overdrive gearbox available for the V8?

Hugo I have the Advance Adaptor overdrive on the Yank Ranger which in effect doubles all ratios. On many occasions I thought of doing it again. That would be nice as you still have the OEM ratios plus overdrive. My against it is spares. One of the main reasons why I bought the Cruisers.

I thinking along the lines of only using OEM Toyota components should I do the conversion.

There is a similar o/d available as you suggested in Australia but the last time I checked it were a cool R70k.

Yes, I hear you. 15 years ago, when I bought the 60 series I was told that overdrive gearbox is weak and I shouldn't expect it to last more than a few more years. Now I have treated it well and it still works well. But spares would be a problem.
My plan is to eventually replace the entire gearbox with the 5 speed one the 62 series 3F came out with, in case the overdrive gives in one day.

Verseker ja, Ek verstaan presies, dit sal tops wees.
As jy nie 4x4 ry of sleep nie sal daai 6de rat darm baie handig wees, Ek sal verseker van so mod hou.

Moet erken. Sal laaik van so 'n box. Met meer ratte. Dan hoef ek nie tot op die einde van die krag kurwe te druk nie. Iets soos 'n overdrive. Soos die trokke. Iets wat die ratkas sal verdubbel.

Henris jou kombinasie kort niks behalwe goeie instandhouding en wat ek weet jy doen . Maintenance is baie meer werd as onnodige Modifications .
