Cool Re: Would you buy a Fortuner 4.0?

Yes..yes .... Yes.... it is a awesome machine to drive. .... Awesome 4x4...!! I had one after a 3L DvD double cab. I regrettable sold it to buy a double cab again.... only reason I sold it was because I always load a lot of rubbish and stuff.. I started to use the Fortuner as a bakkie, loading cement etc.etc....
I put a chip in and put branches and free-flow removing the cat in the process. At 125 km/h I average around 7.6 km/lit and 8.5 kmh/l at a very steady 115 km/h . It was awesome i.t.o power and 4x4... We tow a Jurgens exclusive 1500 kgs double wheel and my wife load another 1.5 ton and the fuel consumption went down to 6.6/6.3 average towing, - thanks to the power, but also at steady 115 km/h. My new Hilux 2.4 GD 6 uses 7.6 average when I tow the caravan. My biggest fun with the V6 was to overtake standard cars on steep hills whilst towing that huge caravan.

    Just some things to consider
1.) Diesel buying prize around +/- R 40,000 more. If your V6 give you 7 km/liter. and a 3 liter DvD give you 10km/L then it is only 3km/L less. If you use the R40,000 difference... you can travel very far with the difference Pretty far.
2.) Service Intervals. 10,000 versus 15,000. Every 30,000kms you save one service +/-R2,000. Again... and you can travel quite a distance with that.
3.) Maintenance... That V6 motor spin very low at even 160km. Awesome motor... i.t.o trustworthy
4.) That sound of that 4 x liter V6 with branches.... no money can buy that.

We also had a Toyota Ettios with the Fortuner to do the general travelling .... BUT the Ettios was stuck in the garage... gathering dust.... I rather would drove the V6 and eat less in restaurants.

    I seriously miss my Fortuner.

I would love to own either a Fortuner or FJ Cruiser or even a Prado. Maybe one day when all the family issues settle down...
