Unfortunately one cannot legally fit a towbar to vehicles under 1.3L

Who on earth told you that? Do you want to tell me VW fits standard factory t-bars illegally to polo's, T-Cross's, Caddy's etc? Haibo, I doubt that I can believe this!

This was what we were told why towbars cannot be fitted to the 1.2 Swifts.
I assume its for normally aspirated engines only.

Maybe the chassis isn't made to cope with the extra stress of towing

But why would SABS approve a towbar from BOSAL where the vehicle can't withstand the stresses?

Ek dink as een van jou vereistes van 'n voertuig is dat dit 'n sleepvoertuig ook moet wees moet jy dalk iets anders as 'n Datsun Go of 'n VW Up! of 'n Kwid of 'n SPresso Of 'n Getz of i10 of Picanto oorweeg??

Just needs some fatter tyres and wheels although that will probably affect that amazing sounding economy.
Its built on the same chassis as the Ignis and I also read somewhere that it achieved a 3 star rating.

BUT ..........I would rather look for a pre owned Ignis at that Price Point (New nomenclature in car speak!).

I've a few friends who own an Ignis and from their reports, it is the best kept secret and a wonderful gem.

Does anyone, who is a member of this forum, know of any problems that they know of with customers who own an Ignis or a Swift?

These little tjorries are bullet proof!!!!!!!!!
We have an Ignis and have done just over 45k km's with it. No problems so far. I really enjoy driving it. We traveled to a game farm in the Hoedspruit area this weekend via Bushbuckridge. I drove the speed limit. However, I must add that a lot of that is at 80km/h. In areas with higher limit, slower traffic obviously slowed us down. When we stopped at home last night the trip computer showed an average of 20.8km/l over the 307km round trip.

Took the S.presso for a test drive yesterday. Very comfortable & perky drive for such a small car. I'm a tad over 6' and the salesman the same. Oodles of head & leg room both front & back.
However, he also said they do not fit tow bars.
After scruting the Swift, we've decided to go that route for the little extra cash. This will probably be the last car we buy, so it seems ideal (The AMT version)
For the odd occasion nowadays that I need a bakkie (trailer) I have an adjustable drop plate on the cruiser anyway.
So now it's a case of, dicky up the Zu & get what I can for her.

Ek like nogal die blou.
