Daryl - owe you a big one.

Quickly went to fill up the Trol, my wife and kids are going to Central Berg tomorrow morning ( I'm only able to leave late tomorrow afternoon, work stuff)

Inflated the Coopers now from 2,0 to 2,8 bar

Noticeably MUCH quieter, no more "drone" when I drove home just now.

Ride obviously a bit harder, but nothing a Vrystater cant handle

    THANKS AGAIN

I had st maxx's on my patrol, but cant say that I ever noticed the noise... Replaced them with dunlop mt2's ... on the way home from the fitment centre I kept looking up to see where the helicopter is...

I’ve had them on for almost two years and there’s no uneven wear in the middle of the tread.
Thanks for that advice. I have tried it on my FJ, I used the pressure Toyota recommends about 2.3 bar on tar. Now after reading your post I pumped to 2.8 bar. Result is noticeably lower rolling resistance. There is an incline where the gearbox would shift back to 4th every time, now it stays in 5th all the way up. I'm sure fuel consumption will be better, too. Overall it feels a much better ride on tar.
Special kind of tyre this is...

Petri seeing you are sticking with the Coopers - what size are your rims - 16" or 17"?

I have 16" on the Patrol but I think some have larger rims.

I have Coopers ST Maxx on my Disco 3 - brilliant tires.. - second set and never regretted it.

    One, I have 16' rims.

Must say, since I inflated them to 2,8 its a completely different tyre, MUCH quieter.

Its actually quiter than I remember since last week, Mariza and the kids used the Trol to Fernwood and back, maybe the "lugs" or something wore a little out over then 600 odd km's.

Also weird - at 2,8 bar the ride isnt really THAT harder (coming from 2.1)........??

Anyway - I'm basically happy now, they really do look tough, I was VERY impressed with the little offroad we did on them, and they're now as quiet as can be accepted/expected.

My first set of BFG were KMs, thought its requirement to have KM (muds) for farm and overlanding, not that noisy bit still. After that I only bought KOs (AT), and they do excellent without that whining on the long stretches to get to your destination.
