    Default Sanding garage doors

So with corona making things quiet I am getting some things done around the house.

    Questions

1.) how are you meant to sand in the grooves/outlines on a garage door? I want to just leave them.

2.) should I fill the cracks prior to putting the oil? Or will the just keep breaking/forming?

    ThanksClick image for larger version.

If the doors were only oiled previously you need to sand by hand. Good old hard labor. If previously varnished, you can apply paint stripper and remove with a putty knife.

I would just oil them every 6 months unless you are concerned with the look

If you have used an oil based “dressing” before like I have, I have told that I can just use fine or mid size “steel wool” or lint free cloth and mineral turps to rub off the previous applications.

I still need to prep and redress our wooden doors. A can of Rubbol is patiently standing and waiting for its boss

    Before and after...

Its only 50% turps and 60% Dulux timbaseal first coat.

I know its not a masterpiece but I'm happy so far! Click image for larger version.

The doors were rather poked in the first place.
