    Default Stage 1 software re-map

    Hi

Has anybody done a stage 1 remap on a Ford. Can the dealer pick up if an upgrade was done. I have a 2018 Everest 2.2. The fuel consumption figures look very good after the remap but can the dealer pick it up. It will probably void the warranty.

    Thanks

If they look for it, they will find it, your map will be reset, after every service that the agents do a "map update" as part of the service.

It will go unnoticed unless they have reason to go look for it, if they go into detailed boost logs, fueling tables etc they will be able to tell its not as per factory mapping, any updates they do from their side will overwrite your remap anyway

The chance they will is very low, but you are still at risk if for some reason they detect it can void warranty. Also depends how well you know the service manager. Had my 2.2 Everest mapped and what a big difference that made to overall performance, driveability and fuel consumption.

The dealers can pick it up, if you want to do software then be aware that you may have issues with warranty claims...you have to pay to play they say right. Also if a tuner tells you it cannot be picked up take that with a pinch of salt also, they just looking to make a sale themselves, no such thing as no risk when it comes to these things

If you try and hide it there must be a reason?

I am also tempted as my fuel economy is poor. But having burnt my fingers with a td5 remap before (2 heads) I would rather pay for fuel and have the dealer pay for my breakdowns.

Maybe i should wait for the warranty to expire first. Don't want to lose the service plan and warranty. These things are costly to repair if something goes wrong.

All the more reason not to fiddle with it. I doubt the guy who does the remapping is more qualified than the Ford engineers. And the mapping guys hevent tested a single engine engine to breaking point, or ran one for 100 000 kms to test reliability.

They also provides a free service of reverting map back to stock prior to service and then after service reload it again.

Finally decide to do it on my 3.2 d/c 4x4 2013 130 000 km and not a days problems. Aim was purely to decrease fuel consumption. Friend did it on his 3.2 d/c in town above 10km/l and open road 11.5 km/l with ease.
Remove cat myself , had stage 1 remapping and bigger intercooler fitted . Must say big difference on the road. Will report back on fuel consumption .

So after about 1000km , its lighter on diesel but not by much . Would say about 0.5 l/100 km, open road achieve 8.5l/100km at 110km/h. Problem it’s so much more responsive specially at overtaking so still put foot a bit too much.
Would I do it again .
Yes if you do many km’s a month but less than 2000km not worth it . For towing a Yes.

Guys you forgot the most important factor insurance if you map you car insurance won’t pay out if they find out that there is a mod except if you tell them the car has a performance mod so just remember to do that as well might be lucky and there is no charge or they might add to you monthly premium but check as it could be very costly.
