    Default Tar Removal Metallic paint

    Guys

So I buy Attila the Honey (Daughter) a new A200 out the box cash. Her first car. It has picked up a few flekke over the last 12 months but on Friday last week she arrives at home and there is tar spattered all up both sides and the wheel arches etc.

I says to her, she has to get that off asap and go and get a tar removal product if need be, as soon as possible because if she leaves it it will create more problemos. She says okay.

I observe, twixt then and now that my advice/instruction is ignored. On her return from varsity this morning she tells me she is going to get the car cleaned. I arrive back home 10 minutes ago and the car has been cleaned but the tar is still there.

I give her the usual, polite, ''the old guy doesnt know what he is talking about, I told you so'' routine and I receive the usual sheepish, fluttering of the eye lashes.

What proprietary or Boereratte tar remover would you recommend? Its a metallic silver paint

Turps and some Honey elbow grease. Soak the cloth and watch your honey rub. Worked for me.

    Diesel
I've used it in the past and it worked fine for me. I hope her car isn't stained by now

Butter. Leave it on for a while and it softens the tar. Wipe off. Other solvents or diesel could leave marks especially on darker colours.

Paraffin is commonly used on car paint. Petrol and diesel should not hurt the paint either. I have also seen specific, expensive tar removal products at Midas.

Parking in the sun or using a hairdryer to help soften the can only help.
Either way, You will need to wax the car again afterwards.

I would stay from turps, thinners, acetone, etc. That will desolve the paint.

A bit of petrol on a cloth works as well. I normally go to any garage and get some from the pump. No need to pay. There's enough leftover in about 3 pumps to halfway fill a 500ml bottle so it's more than enough. Just ask to lift the pump handle and turnover into bottle

We work on a mine where they spray the roads with a tar product to combat dust so we remove tar from our vehicles every day. Petrol and diesel mix 30 percent petrol 70 percent diesel.
The petrol softens the tar and diesel prevent it sticking tÚ the other areas of paint

    Works real well

Wurth does a very good Tar Remover spray. They have a shop on Malibogwe road Strijdompark next to Linex Yamaha.

A customer once told me that apparently Doom bugspray also work good, without discoloring or damaging paint.
