    Default Howling Moon Wizz Tents

    Greetings

Does anyone have a Howling Moon Wizz tent and what are they like to set up and use?

I need to change my tent for vehicle based touring with quick/easy set up and take down and I like the Oztent concept but not their prices.

    Thanks

I had a Wizz26 and was very happy with it. The only downside to the Wizz (and Oztents) is their size when packed. You really need to put them on the roof. My Wizz JUST fit in the back of my Amarok's bin. Diagonally. So it eats up a lot of the available space.

Thanks Johan. This is a concern but it will be something I would need to consider anyhow if going, say, the canvas tent root?

I am currently arranging the vehicle around logical packing space so this is an important consideration.

    Thanks and cheers

Nah JD, the fairest way for this is whoever gets in first with the cash. So if something pops up here and ticks your boxes and you are in, then fair play to you.

    Hi

I have the Wizz 24 with the side panels and front panel. Really great tent and quick to setup. As indicated by the others, the only downside to the tent is the fact that it is bulky, but did not bother me much as it went on top of the conqueror.

Havent used ours since getting the caravan (SWAMBO finds it easier with the kids). Was only used 5 times.

I am also on the lookout for a new tent. Thinking off going canvass dome, but also looked at the wizz tents.
Want to see them in the flesh though first.
Hopefully some experience will be shared here.

I eventually went for a Turbo Tent - sold in Aus as a Blackwood I think. In my opinion it is a better tent than the Wizz and Oztent. Setup time is not much different, and it packs up a LOT smaller. Quality also better in my opinion. I got it from Camp and Climb a few years ago but it doesn't look like they stock them anymore. Was expensive but if you're looking at the Wizz and Oztent it will be in the ball park.

Yes, that's the one. I seem to recall that Greensport in Namibia also sold a version of this tent - maybe worth checking it out. I think it is by most measures a superior tent to the Wizz.

I have one of these turbo tents. Very nice, quick and easy to set up/take down and very sturdy.
Estee, you are welcome to mine to test/use before you make up your mind. Just need to get to to you

Will see if I can find some photos. Haven't used it since 2017 when we got the Bush Lapa

Yes, the only possible issue is that the Oryx (which is basically the 3.0m version) seems to have the old style awning over the veranda. The newer version has three poles there instead of 2, so there won't be a buildup of water. I think the veranda part could also be a bit bigger. So the Oryx looks like the original Blackwolf, and not the newer and improved one like I got from C&C. It might be worth contacting Camp&Climb and asking about it - I think the guys name is Dogbert here on the forum.

I am extremely happy with mine, after going through about 6 different shapes and sizes of canvas tents, I think this is the best. I also have the side and front walls for the veranda which makes it even better.

    I had a Wizz 24.
My main gripe with this tent was the 2100mm bag that it packs into. As mentioned, it has to go on the roof or take a helluva lot of space inside the vehicle. My second moan was the "flysheet" system. When fitted, the flysheet lies on the roof of the inner which causes an awful racket if you're in anything more than a slight breeze. IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, the Wizz is a not very well thought about copy of the Oztent.
Lastly, it's a bitch to erect if you're on your own!

If I must replace my "quick pitch" now, I will buy this:

    https://www.takealot.com/oztrail-fas...n/PLID40400525

Look at the size it packs to and I do not like only the 3x3, there is not enough space in crappy conditions.
The other thing about these tents are that you can buy side and front panels as well to fix to the canopy.
That canopy also looks as if it will not collect water.

    Features:
    - Fast Frame
    - UVTex 2000 fly
    - 150D rip- stop fabric
    - 100 percent polyester inner kit
    - Bucket design for extra waterproofing

    Specifications:
    - Material: Polyester
    - Packed Dimensions: 116cm x 28cm x 28cm
    - Product Dimensions:420cm x 240cm x 195cm

    What's in the box
1x Fast Frame Cruiser 420 Cabin

Oom Barnie, my brother bought this tent and used it in December at StNowhere. Letís just say I will not be advocating for this especially if camping in wet/windy conditions

So I have been doimg a bit of camping lately using a Campmaster that I have used extensively from about 2004. On e year I spent 24 weekends in it. Its still useable although requores some attention to the seams around the groundsheet.

However, its the set up and take down that is getting me, single handed, particularly after the double bypass.

Some of the Coleman Cabin type tents are quick set ups/instant type tents excluding the fly sheet and thought about those keeping in mind that I used to use a hammock and tarpaulin in most of my solo trips. I do like the Aussie comcept of awning and Swag setup especially the swags on a cot.

My thougjts are that the Wizz would be between the two, a tent come awning type set up. Quick up and down for touring but looking at the packed size I am starting to think its not maybe the better option

    So I understood you wrong.
This setup you want is for solo camping only.
