    Default Evoque nothing Velar

    https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...or-touareg-tdi

HI so as the title says the Evoque is gone and there will be a blood-red Velar 240D R Dynamic HSE parked next to the Amarok in the next few days.

So this will be a thread for comments etc on the 240 D Ingenium (2l bi turbo, 177kw)

Mandy wanted a Velar from the day we picked up her Evoque and have not had the chance to do it.

Well that crazy dream is now reality.

Our garage is going to be very soft roader and very bright with opposing blue (Amarok) and this bright red thing.

I don't think the VW fans are excited about the around turn.

    Our house is so excited.

Is the 2 l diesel that is branded D 240 and ignenium engine?

    177kw from a 2l diesel is a lot.

Do you think the velar is heavier than the Amarok.

I have it off the top of my head that they are about the same

Spent the day in the Amarok and was glad to have the extra power but missed that smooth soft ride.

Will enjoy the Velar this weekend.

Took the Velar for a leg stretch in Dinokeng today.

Lost a bit of tupperware and want to write some impressions of the softroader.

I will formulate a few thoughts and then write some impressions.

Good day was had by all.

So we have had the Velar for more than 3 months now but not had a chance to enjoy it.

Yesterday was its longest trip to date to Dinokeng. I'm guessing about 250km.

200 km tar 45 gravel and maybe 5 gentle off road. Which for us is a good average of how a day or holiday will go.

On the freeway it is magnificent.

The torque and acceleration they are squeezing out of that 2l is amazing.

Much much better on road than the Evoque.

Gravel is an absolute pleasure. You can comfortably still have a conversation at 80km hour on corrugations.

But even the slightest middelmannetjie with mudruts made me loose some tupperware. Dissapointed. The Evoque was more capable. I could not find one with an air suspension for my budget and that is a pity.

For what it will do most of the time it is perfect. For that one piece of rough, 1 km or 2 km of a trip to the Lesotho church. Hmmm I will have to try it.

The young ones followed in the Amarok.

Do you know if the D240 also suffers from the same oil dilution issues as on the Disco Sport & Evoque?

The engine is not transverse in the Velar. On the Evogue/DS it has to do with the DPF to far down the exhaust system and not reaching working temp on short/city trips.
Hopefully that will cure the problem with enough room to place the DPF in the correct place.

Thanks @DiscoFrans, that's good to hear.

This also bodes well for the new Defender, since their engines are also longitudinally mounted
