    Default Freelander 2 keyfob help

    Hi

I have a 2009 freelander 2. The main keyfob works but recently it struggles to open the car. Locking is no problem. I usually have to press the button multiple time for it to unlock.

The spare keyfob is dead. I got an engineering buddies to pry it open. The battery was still alive but it looks like the keyfob is dead.

Landrover quoted 8k for a new keyfob. Is there anyone that can help with this?

Have your engineer buddy check all the joints - ours had a loose joint that made life difficult.

These guys made a new one for me for my Patrol, not all that expensive, about R2k. They are in Eloff Street Extn.

Then I went and had a R2k alarm fitted and made the key fob redundant, the alarm fob is then used iso the key's one!!

FL2 remote battery has legs which is soldered to/through the board.

Maybe phone Land Rover centurion. When I bought my Freelander 2 the spare key was missing. I had the dealership selling the car agree to replace the spare key. I don't think they paid near that amount.

Normally if you remove the plastic battery holder (with care) and solder in a new connection. A bit finicky. If it’s not that you need a new key.

    Hi

An update, the spare keyfob that I had was not actually for my car. Can't even believe that. I've been told that only land rover can reprogram the keyfob to my car.

Then the main keyfob battery started acting up. Went to Solihull4wd and they changed the battery and gave me a new keyfob cover - cost about R860.

You can source the battery yourself for about R150. Gotta factor in delivery costs, I don't have a soldering iron and not any good with one either. So the R860 has not too bad of a compromise.

Question now is, will Land rover be able to reprogram the spare keyfob
