Default NL Dual Battery System - Help me here Please.

I got a NL dual battery system with the GRX that I bought 2 weeks ago, that has since crept into my heart and lovingly called "Olive" - see here.....https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...san?highlight=

It has a battery box (removable/portable) that is not connected now.

If I may ask a few questions please. I', asking them one by one, with accompanying pic(s).

The battery monitor shows 2 green dots, but there's only one battery connected now. Why is that?? Or would it light up "normally" if the battery box is also connected??

Pic attached. The lights show GREEN, not YELLOW (pic may look yellow)

    Thanks.

Then, in the engine bay, the NL Solenoid thingy does not light up at all, when the car is idling or not. Car has not idled long though, is there a specific "time relay" after which things will light up??

Or is it, one again, because the second battery is not connected?

    Pics attached.

    Thanks a Mill, appreciate.

There is usually a 5 minute delay before the solenoid kicks in

You can also hold the “on” button in for about 3 secs, that’s disables the 5 minute delay and the solenoid should then kick in immediately

OK....thanks so far, last Question/Request for Advise for the Day, I'll get to the rear of the Patrol later.

This is the connections on the primary battery's terminals.

Do they look OK, or room for improvement?? Some "spray" or solvent to just clean them up nicely?? Connections good, looking at the pics?

    Thanks again, appreciate

    Something looks dodgy here.
Have you checked the wiring from the solenoid to the main battery? is it connected?
Check cable from solenoid to monitor. Very odd that both green lights are on when the 2nd battery is not connected.

Guys, theres another thing, please escuse me if this sound stupid...........but under the rear seat, there are a red and grey BH plug connected in a "loop" (dunno what to call it)

Can it be that the solenoid and monitor "sees" 2 batteries??

Sorry actually wanted to get to the rear later, but just have a peep here what I'm talking about please

    Thanks

The battery box at the back has a red and grey BH input, but I have NO idea how the hell that works. Like I said, more on that later.

    Die goed maak my deurmekaar.

Going to be difficult to diagnose without being able to see how cables run ............ where do they start and where do they end etc.
If you do not feel confident, take it to an auto electrician who knows his stuff.

Gothan nee, lyk nie of daar solenoid in daai battery box is nie.

    THANKS

    Battery Box...…...……

As above, it has a red and grey BH, I assume the red BH is an input from the front (solenoid), and then ONLY the 2 Hellas on the battery box are the outputs.

Then I assume if I plug in the grey BH with the grey BH at the back, it then also powers the outlets in the drawer system.

But will first start up the Trol and see if that solenoid kicks in...…...I just dunno if it WILL actually kick in with only one battery connected?

Thanks anyway so far, appreciate the inputs

There is a connection on the right hand side (thick red cable), which I would presume is the battery to solenoid. Where does the "out" connect? Should there not be a red cable connected on the left side of solenoid that is fused and heads toward the aux battery?
that seems to be missing. Might also be why both lights indicate green. Surely if connected correctly all the light should luminate for the main battery up to current level of charge.

Petri - in short - if the second battery is not connected the monitor should only show one, and the yellow lights should only be on for the one battery - showing the strength. Again, if the second battery is not connected, the solenoid will not kick in - not matter how long you wait. I think (from what I see) that the monitor might be faulty, or the connection to it a bit dicky. Best get someone who knows to have a look at the whole installation.

gav - I think you're spot on, thanks.

I got the monitor working correctly now , only one "strip" is showing. I held the "SET" knoppie for a couple secs and all things good were suddenly lighting up.

    So.…….Progress.
