Default Routes in Gauteng suitable for softroaders (Grand Vitara)

    Hi all

Just purchased a bone stock Grand Vitara and as a first time 4x4 owner I would like some input on fairly timid trails around Gauteng that won't be a problem with only 200mm ground clearance.

The trips will mostly be solo missions.

if you do find some, and feel like some company - I'd be happy to join... Also most likely solo...

You can try Breedt's Nek, I is a public road that is not looked after and its not too hectic and the view is brilliant.

My concern is with how much it has washed away with the rains recently. Since you can't really turn around so easy up there I don't feel too comfortable.

Also the crossing over concerns me with the rocks at the top.

Try Sandwani or Kunkwini close to PTA. You can do parts that you want and skip more difficult ones. Both are very user Friendly. All on your own time and pace.

Did the up and over at Breedts Nek this morning with a friend. Quite an experience for my first outing and the trail really challenged me.

Super impressed with how well the Zook handled it.

    Hi
    maxxis2112

I need to travel to Rustenburg next month. Think I am gonna get a Hilux or Fortuner and take that route.

Is a 4x required or will a 2x4 be okay?

I think 4x4 is needed but Iím sure a 4x2 with locker in the right hands will do fine.
