She looks nice. But in my opinion, she is screaming for a new front bumper.

Front replacement bumper is probably the most useless costly item on a south african 4x4.

And it really looks crap on a the GD6

Eish. Without my bumper, no winch.
    No winch, no earnings.

You do not need a bumper to fit a winch

I would step out and say that most mods on most 4x4s including winches are for bragging rights.

Most people on this forum, will never venture to the places or situations where they would need it.

One of my favorite mod jokes are the guys with all the hardware... : bumper front rear winch and even 4 inch lift light bars cattle rails and bfgs... and the original sidesteps..

I am obviously excluding the OP from my broad paint brush

I agree, not once did I feel I could not do something because I don't have a steel bumper. I cannot justify the cost...

I have also noted all of these guys with original sidesteps... That is the item I have bumped the most...

Hi Tim, I cannot spot your model, is it 2.4, 2,8, auto, manual?
Did you increase the standard ground clearance of 279mm with the tough dog susp? (I've measured my lowest distance with OEM tyres and its only about 235mm!)
Are you going to report on your travels somewhere where we can follow it?

Shes the 2.8 manual, what Id been looking for for a while!

I must double check but on the suspension report it said a 55mm lift but thats unloaded. Weve got 6 months of supplies in her, and the roof rack exactly at capacity. As soon as I use some of the diesel or water on the roof I replace the weight with firewood!

Will post updates on here and YouTube and insta @timhulmephoto! Hopefully tomorrow if I get my work done before we leave signal again!

Were already 3000km in, and trust me I have used ever single mod.

Rear is next on my list (long range tank drops my spare a bit and negates any gain in exit angle the suspension would have got me), and a skid plate. Then Ill start looking at front options, I dont love the look on these fortuners but will do some more research!

Can someone explain to me how you take a 15k trip when the service interval is 10k does that mean you pass by a Toyota dealership to get the car serviced during the trip

Isn't that only for the petrol ones though? Cause the diesel one(G-D6) is 10k intervals.

Yes. Logically you plan your trip to be close to a service agent on 10k.

IIRC Stan Weakly had his Land Cruiser serviced in Nairobi during their long travel.

Yes, you can. I have read of people servicing their vehicles mid trip in Maun or Windhoek.

Both diesel and petrol is 10k service intervals.
