Default Full size spare tyre on 2020 RAV4 2.0 VX

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a new RAV4 2.0 VX but I am annoyed that the VX range does not come out with a full spare tyre. The fitted tyres are 235/55/R19 and too large for the boot

My thinking is to ask Toyota to fit the tyres and RIMs available on the cheaper 2.0 GX-R CVT AWD model (size 225/60/R18 ) instead which will mean that a full spare tyre can be fitted as is the case with all the GX models. However, this will result in speed reading issues as the circumference of the tyre is 1,89% lower.

Does anyone have experience of this and whether Toyota can adjust the computer? Is this a good idea
    ?

You can go down in Rim size but up in tire size and carry the spare deflated to fit in the well. Carry a compressor in the hollow of the spare. I did this for many years with an Xtrail.

    Seriously?

I cannot see how this is an issue. Chances are you'll never need the spare (I haven't used one in 5 years). Just fit it when you need it and replace ASAP.
    Everything is a hammer.
Unless it is a screw driver.

    Then it it a chisel.
