Re: Transport on fridge
Yes it can be transported flat.
What's important are the pipes that come out the compressor tank, point up not down. Be careful of damaging the radiator and pipes at the back. and watch the door handles if they stick out. watch denting the sides.
If pipes point down oil, etc gets into the pipes and can cause blockages. however leaving the fridge standing for 24 hours, fluids drain back into the tank. But easier to place the fridge on the one side so the pipes point up, so oil does not get into the pipes.
And leave standing for 24 hours or longer before starting.
I googled this extensively, when I needed to transport a fridge through the Transkei and leave it flat on a trailer for a few days.
And yes old school fridges could not be transported on its side, hence the warning on the fridge that has been carried over from the old days.
And manufactures protecting them selves, as they know you can't wait 24hours before making the beers cold.
Make sure trays inside the fridge are secure and sometimes the water defrosting bucket that sits on top of the motor is loose and needs fitting correctly, after standing the fridge upright. and the 3 pin plug, watch that it does not get caught under the fridge when lying the fridge flat.
The one article said, it must be left upright for 12 hours minimum or it must stand up right for as long as it lay on it's side before starting. longer the safer.
