I did those roads in December. On the west side, it was better than I expected. 80 to 100 km/h in the bakkie with a "plat" trailer was not a problem. The east side was a bit worse but I headed more south east towards Witsand, not back to the N2.

A few people have lost tyres on those roads though.

    Hi Rich

Just got back from there last week after 2 weeks at Hotel. We were there during storms and traveled back once roads dried out. Roads in poor condition in some places. Huge potholes and corrugations. Esp from Swellendam to Malgas. Road bit better from Malgas to Infanta. Towed 16ft Cat up there and was hectic on suspension allround. Got dust in beads so have to take car and trailer in to clean beads out . Goodluck but dont go fast than 70kms in some sections as gravel very loose and plenty marbles

Koste per voertuig was R60.

Went last week over with pont, last time for old unit.

The new motorized unit is now in place, as they tested it on 27 Feb.

    Gravel Road was not bad

    Jeeezzz..........

Exactly, was a joke for Richard.

Always give those guyz a fish or two when we there or a beer at the Hotel pub.

Go over at least 10 times a year between Infanta and Witsand

This is the end of an era, I went across the river a number of times, once on our bicycles on a trip to Blombos. Bicycles could cross for free, but we tipped the staff as it was early in the morning and we called them away from their breakfast.
