As usual I took Kalahari wood with on our trip River Trip in 2018. Lots of wood in the river but the coals from then are useless for braai. Think the wood on Andrew`s list is an important piece of equipment if you do not want to " sukkel om te braai"

Am I to understand each guy makes his own braai then?

    How does that work?

Not only are the wood for braaing
It also serves as recovery equipment

15 vehicles and each one supplies a bag of wood for each night

That gives you one big bonfire

At the end of the day we pull up into camp, usually depending on size of group we camp in a loose laager type of setup, with a central big fire going..You can then either add wood to that fire, and take coals as needed for your braai, or what ever. Maybe make your own small fire to use or even just fry your steak if you want to.. Each does his own thing. Planning communal meals would be a nightmare. And we eat when we want to.
