Indeed. I have the two separate NL units and I am as happy as any owner of any of the other makes.

If the combined NL unit was available at the time I bought mine, I would have taken it without second thoughts.

Truly a plug-and-play setup for anybody who does not want to/cant get involved in "building" one's own.

And that remote monitor is a gem!

Dont use a deep cycle, use a high cycle, AGM or even start battery, with a plain 12V solenoid activated from the ignition, or victron cyrix combiner.

Will a high cycle/ start battery be happy with running a fridge and a few lights overnight? won't it drop below the 80% threshold? And AGM you're talking R5k for a 105/110Ah

Leisure High cycles are made for cycling to less than 80%. Talking about those AGMs used as a start battery, they can be cycled a bit lower.

A start battery can be cycled to lower than 70-80%, obviously that will reduced its life expectancy a bit, but how many days a year will you do that.

I am equally useless at these technical stuff. How does the Snomaster battery box compare to the NL - not in price, but in functionality.

Apart from maybe the type of outlets and numbers, the snomaster have a manual switch to disconnect the batteries. The NL does it automatically and the NL has a solar charger built in.

    Short answer. Yes!

And Im what you might call a professional camper! As a professional wildlife photographer and safari operator I live out of tents etc up to 10 months of the year.

Ive used NL products for as long as I can remember and they back their products, even out of warranty.

I have two of their other boxes and use them all the time. The convenience of being able to walk into a shop and walk out with a product that is well made and I dont have to spend hours at a work bench (and asking questions here for advice) wins hands down.

If I was buying again now, yes, Id get that R9k fully inclusive box. With the Ctek.

Just do it! (As Tiger Woods said!)

Exactly! With a five year warranty and a 20-year-plus (at least?) record of producing top notch products for our use.

I have a box built by Outdoor Warehouse which I use to power my NL fridge and lights (almost the same specs). I can unplug it and move it to the house during power outages. Had the NL box been around when I purchased the fridge I would have bought it, mainly for having a one vender solution.

I do have the DIY skills to piece one together but at my time of life I don't have the inclination to use them. Sooner spend the money to have someone else do it and add that time to my travelling.

As another member said...'buy it' and start enjoying.

At R 8999. Lets get the Price out of the way first. Pricey yes, but look at what's included, and a 5 Year Guarantee to boot.

Is this THE solution for me??

    1) Occasional Oztent camping, with the fridge/lights in or near the tent(s)

    2) The fridge is used in more than one car

    3) Occasional caravan camping, the van only has 220v

    I have 2 x 85w solar panels.

So..isn't this the solution for, lets call it a "Beginner" that wants 12v in the 3 scenarios above?

    Hi,
You need to find out what brand and model MPPT is used as well as the AC charge controller. Reason is that the battery supplier, Li Ion must approve of the charge controller for their specific battery. Then you can also have a 10 year warranty on your Li Ion battery.
If you use something not tested with the battery vendor they may state that the warranty is null and void.

My custom duel battery box (custom built) cost in excess R1200 battery included, yes it may have a slightly higher spec. Just go for it.
