    Default Is It True ?

I made a phone call looking for a snorkel and when I enquired about a Safari snorkel, I'm told that Safari Centre has closed down. am I being misled by an eager sales man trying to sell me what ever brand they sell, or is it true that Safari is no more......and if it is true, what make snorkel do you recommend that is of decent quality ?

Just about all snorkels are created equal. I've seen ones from 4x4direct last for years and still look fine. There are a myriad of choices on the market.

RAI is just what it says, but a snorkel is watertight.

The Safari snorkel is a genuine snorkel but a Mantec RAI isn't watertight.

I just put a snorkel on from 4x4 Direct (Safari style). Good quality, easy(ish) to fit. I'm happy.

Safari Snorkel and Safari Centre are two different companies. Which one closed down?

Speak to one of the chaps at Safari Centre N1 motor city in Cape Town. They are the agents for Safari snorkels after Bailies gave it up. 021 595 3910. They did not close down and are doing well, I'd say beter than most 4x4 stores.

For those who call them over priced, see the price of the newly revived TJM airtec snorkel. Then we can have a discussion about overpriced.

I would also be careful when purchasing a cheap snorkel. I have seen fitments gone wrong resulting in far more damage to vehicles than paying the extra for a trusted brand. Most of these have been because of the templates supplied for fitment not being correct.

As far as I know Safari 4x4 Center have closed down.

Safari Snorkels (Australian company) is still going.

Even a submarine puts its snorkel above the water to breathe....use a bit of Sikaflex in the joints and they are about as water tight as you can get. Not that I think it is a good idea to do the U-boat trick myself.
