I was a little underwhelmed with the Toyota review, I mean everyone knows the cruisers run minimum 12 000 000 km’s before the motor is run in... maybe a little staged.. or biased.., plus where’s the Land Rovers??

According to the USA, Land Rovers are mid size SUVs. Chevy Suburban and GMC Yukon etc. are full size SUVs. They can seat up to 9 people in some variants.

I have owned a 1976 F250 and FJ 45 Cruiser from the same year. The F250 were the most robust build and aged far better than the Cruiser.
The older Yank trucks stood the test of time and did serious millage trouble free. I am afraid it is not true anymore. I knew of an outfit that imported around 2010 model 6.7 v8 F250`s. They just did not made it in African conditions. Were plagued by constant electronic glitches.
The 100 Series in the video were only available with the 4.7 V8. The Yanks never had the ever lasting 4.5EFI or 1HDT diesel which were the know Toyota high miller engines in the 100 Series.
The current US 200 Series sports the 5.7l Toyota v8 which is not available in our country.
There are lots of 100/200 Series Cruisers around with trouble 600k km on the clock in SA.

I am sure if they fast forward the test to current models the results will not be the same.

The old Rover v8 was the GM block. The yanks didnt like it and the rights were acquired by Rover. That is a robust engine

So I browsed some of his other videos and the Dodge Ram has been plagued by issues also of late. However, hes says the one with the Cummins engine, I am sure he mentioned 9.0lt is the one to look out for

Very few engines in the Land Rover brand are of Land Rover origin.

So what you are saying, Mr Grips, is that all of the brand bashing against Land Rovers over the years has been unfounded and grossly unfair to the brand?

Maybe or maybe not. Seems they were unable to produce their own engines

they really are not that bad, in 40k all I’ve had replaced are both diffs, transfercase, both propshafts and all sideshafts... so really no biggie, all stuff under the car anyway so not important...for what its worth my sunroof still works, and the swaybar bushes are quiet as day one... way over exaggerate this land rover reliability thing... motors still good, but it is a ford afterall..

    ... Please ... !

    300TDi s & 2.5 TD5 s made & installed until 2006 & 2007 respectively...

    300000 miles is only 0.5m km ... !

    - might only be high for Transit Van
(Ford DuraTorq TDCi ) & later used motors
