I took the battery and charger to the salesman and he has told me li doesnt go through stages but will go through bulkat 13,6v and then to absorb at 14,2 v.

He tested to see if my cables (homemade had continuity and they did . He played with the bluetooth programme but I dont know if he changed parameters. The app showed it charging at 13,6v at 20 amps. A dc clamp meter confirmed that 20 amps was being drawn by the battery.

I am suprized a 180 amp battery at 12,8v will be able to take 20 amps of charging and not get full.My only piece of mind is the battery didnt get hot to the touch. Thats a good thing isnt it.
The battery specs show that the charge voltage is 14,2v and the nominal charge voltage is 12,8v.
The cut off voltage is 10v.
It also states that the battery will stay above 12,5v even if its discharged to 90 %. Can that be possible.

That could be right. Li-Ion bat do have a very flat curve and do not come down steadily as per lead acid.

Eventually the charger has gone through the absorb mode and now is in the maintenance mode. It tells me it will charge it a little once a week.
I think this victron is a nice charger.

    Received my two inverters yesterday.
Removed the top panels and check units inside, build quality is good and no obvious defects noticed or bad solder joints noticed.

I did however unclip and rotate the 220 V socket 180 degrees so that the earth is now on top and the lead of the plug comes out at the bottom. Works better for me.

If there is anyone here who has a 20 amp victron charger I would be very grateful if I could phone you as I have never used Attachment 559671 and I am battling to get the app to work.It keeps asking me to tap but nothing happens.I am shocked at how expensive wire is. Two meters of wire is R160.00

Good to know that a decent battery costs R5800...

I'm shopping in China, with my China and looking at 4 off "A" grade 152 Ah cells @ USD45 each, probably landed in SA at R4000 total.

Time for a DIY battery build......I still need to find a decent battery charger though. Maybe Victron is the way to go but at R2300 the "Inexpensive" load-shedding build is actually becoming rather expensive!

    Battery R4K
    Charger R2300
    Inverter R 1400 odd
    BMS,Cables, battery box

    R8K min, That's a lot of candles!

If I compare the Pylontechs US3000 @R20K each, one can build a battery 16*3.2V, 280Ah, in a 48 V config (13.4KWh) at ZAR35K+ shipping, all in......That's pretty much 1/2 of what the equivalent Pylon techs would cost and uses decent "A" grade batteries..

Requires HUGE BIG BRASS ones though....At these prices, it might be less effort to go completely off grid and not have to get get sign off from town council.........

Assuming you went off grid. The inverter packs up. Now stock to be found due to no imports from China.
You can get re-connected but the waiting time is 12 months.

    High risk!!!

Does anyone want to swop their Banggood 3000W 12V pure sine inverter with my Banggood 3000W 24V pure sine inverter?

I stupidly ordered the 24V one instead of the 12V one.

Today I found a load close to 1500W. Only tried it for about a minute. Also tried another problem child namely my laser printer and it worked just like being on the grid. Used the oppertunity to see what current each of my 2 batteries were supplying.

I've got almost same setup, didn't know one can buy battery case. I bought a nice box from plastics shop and fitted batteries in it, made my own setup. From which battery shop did you buy the case?

i also picked up my inverter at the local PEP and everything seems to be okay as per the order. I did however made the stupid mistake of ordering the 110V output unit instead of the 220V....plain stupidity will take the blame here. I have tested the unit on everything at home that works on 110-220V and the unit performed as expected, so apart from the stupid mistake I am ahappy with the product. I shall most probably order the 220v unit in due course. In the meantime this unit will do service on my home-built system consisting of: 2 x 100w Artsolar panels in series, charge controller Victron MPPT 75/15 and a 200Ah (usable) LiFePO4 battery, aptly named The Hulk. I used the system on a 10 day camping trip in December and it served me with flying colours - keeping my Dometic CF50 AT -10 Deg C, 3 X NL LED lights and USB charging of laptops powerbanks etc. Pics of the system attached.

Weet jy dalk of die 110V inverter wel 50Hz is of is dit dalk 'n 60Hz eenheid soos wat in Amerika gebruik word?

I imported a few pure sine Chinese invertor for me and few friends.
Did oscilloscope this morning through friend.
Very impressive. Best sine wave and 50 Hz on 220v. 1500 watt with 3000w peak. Around R2000-00 all included.Click image for larger version.

Don't feel alone. I made the same mistake, was in a hurry when I ordered it and didn't pay attention. Stupid and costly mistake. Luckily all my internet equipment is 110V compatible,as that was the main objective for the inveter.
